A pop-up cinema is coming to a venue near Scarborough this Halloween.

A giant cinema screen's been erected in the rustic barn at Stepney Hill Farm, with two films to choose from showing this Saturday (31st October).

“SCOOB”, the brand new animated blockbuster staring Scooby Doo is on the big screen in the afternoon for families, with the granddaddy of all cult movies “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in the evening for the grown ups.

With hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever -- a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world.

'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' became more of an interactive event than a stand- alone movie very soon after its release. A flat tyre leaves Brad and Janet stranded on a stormy night. They experience strange incidents when they seek shelter in a nearby castle belonging to Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric transvestite.

Hot food and drinks are being supplied by Stepney Hill Farm’s cafe, as well as a licensed bar.

Mike Lynskey from Popup Cinema Yorkshire said,

“As a business in the events industry, we have missed our usual packed summer of shows due to Covid. With Halloween approaching we decided that we must do some spooky cinema shows to try and cheer people up during these unprecedented times. It’s been very difficult organising an indoor event, but we’ve put a lot of hard work into making the barn at Stepney a safe and fun place to be”.

In order to make the shows Covid compliant, government social distancing guidelines are being followed and the "rule of 6" is being applied to ensure the safety of all attending.

Tables are spaced at least 2 metres apart. Table service is in place for food and drinks. Masks must be worn while moving around the venue, but you may remove them when at your table.
