The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their third child into the world, a baby boy!
The statement read, 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well'. sic
They later added, 'The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.'
The news comes after Kensington Palace revealed The Duchess had been admitted to St Mary's Hospital on Monday morning, with the Duchess in the early stages of labour.
The tweet read, 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour. The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.'
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first announced they were expecting their third child back in September 2017. Releasing a statement at the time, Kensington Palace revealed how the Queen and members of both families were delighted with the news.
Kensington Palace also tweeted the news.
The Duchess of Cambridge is one of three children, she has a sister, Pippa Matthews, and brother, James Middleton. Prince William has a younger brother, Prince Harry.
The new arrival is the couple's third child together. After marrying on 29th April 2011, the Royal couple welcomed Prince George into the world on the 22nd July 2013 and Princess Charlotte on the 2nd May 2015.
The Duchess of Cambridge made her last public appearance during the Easter weekend as the Royal family attended a service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and Duchess Kate were all in attendance, as well as Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and Princess Anne.
