Perrie Edwards: Everything you need to know about the Little Mix singer
Solo music is coming!
Since rising to fame on The X Factor alongside Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and former member Jesy Nelson as part of Little Mix, Perrie Edwards has gone on to achieve massive success with the girl group!
The group decided to go on hiatus following their 'Confetti' tour, as both Perrie and Leigh-Anne have now welcomed babies into their families - so the trio are exploring solo careers and what life can mean for them outside of Little Mix. Here's everything you need to know about Perrie and her solo music.
What is Perrie doing now?
After Jesy left Little Mix in December 2020, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne announced they would all look at solo opportunities alongside their roles in the group, which focus on their individual passions.
Perrie then launched her solo project 'Disora', which according to its website is: 'A label focused on providing premium designs accessible to a wider audience. Combining ethically sourced production and sustainable fulfilment and distribution, we create both lifestyle pieces that are kind to the earth and empower those who wear it.'
Disora launched in October 2021 and stands for 'Discover Your Aura'.
Following Little Mix starting their hiatus in May 2022, there was much speculation as to when the individual members would be releasing new solo music.
In July 2022, Perrie teased new music as she was working in the studio with Little Mix's songwriter Kamille and Ed Sheeran's producer Steve Mac. Then, in January 2023, it was rumoured that Perrie was "close to signing a solo deal with Columbia Records".
Fast forward to October 2023, and Perrie started teasing some new music telling her fans she's 'cooking' something and sharing photos from her home studio.
She later shared an update with fans telling them that her album was 'finished', however she was just joking. She did say however that she's loved writing music for it, and it's really brought her out of her shell as she doesn't have the other members of Little Mix as a comfort blanket.
In February 2024, Perrie shared a teaser of her new music on her Instagram page, in a clip which featured her incredible vocals.
Then, she let a select few listen to her new music at a listening party, where fans said her music was 'nothing like little mix', and sees the singer 'exploring several sounds', including a 'mix of pop, rock, country and disco'!
Excitingly, in March 2024, Perrie finally revealed the release date for her debut solo single 'Forget About Us'! Taking to Instagram, Perrie revealed that the song will drop on 12th April.
Finally the date arrived and Perrie released 'Forget About Us' and of course the fans loved it.
Away from music, in February 2023, Perrie met up with her friend and Little Mix bandmate Jade, in California. The pair shared pics of them having a great time on Santa Monica pier, and Los Angeles, along with Perrie's son Axel, who she has now revealed has a middle name inspired by his dad. She also opened up about how wedding planning is going as she prepares to tie the knot with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain!
Perrie's support for RAYE
When Perrie was part of Little Mix, RAYE wrote some songs for the band, and in 2023 Perrie supported RAYE with the release of her debut album. A few days after the release of 'My 21st Century Blues', Perrie shared a screenshot of the iTunes store, showing she'd bought the album, telling fans she wanted RAYE to: 'Win at life so bad. There's no one more deserving.'.
It has now been revealed that RAYE worked with Perrie on her new solo music, and has a collaboration on her new album. Perrie spoke to us about the song she wrote with RAYE saying: "I wrote a song with RAYE and and it was like a proper petty song. When you're in a relationship... Like me and my partner, we don't argue, but when we do, I am SO petty, I will not let it go."
She continued: "It could be the simplest thing, I'm like 'No’, like my star sign is Cancer and I'm so stubborn. The thing is, I know I'm doing it, I know I'm being stubborn, but I can't not do it. So I'm like, no, I will hold a grudge. So we wrote a song about that."
How old is Perrie Edwards?
Perrie was born on 10th July 1993, meaning she is currently 30-years-old. To celebrate her 30th birthday in 2023, Perrie shared a super cute post to celebrate, referencing the iconic Noughties film 13 Going On 30.
She wrote: 'So this is Thirty, Flirty, and Thriving?! Thank you so much for all the birthday love & wishes! Feeling so blessed and content at 30!🥰,' sharing snaps of herself with her little family.
Perrie's parents, Debbie Duffie and Alexander Edwards, divorced when she was a young child, and they have since both remarried. The singer has an older brother called Jonnie Edwards and a half-sister called Caitlin.
Where is she from?
Just like her Little Mix band mate Jade Thirlwall, Perrie is from South Shields in the North East of England. The singer grew up in Whiteleas, attending St. Peter and Paul RC Primary School, and later Mortimer Community College.
After leaving school, Perrie went to Newcastle College where she worked hard to receive a Performing Arts BTEC, something which has come in very useful in the music industry!
Despite spending the majority of her childhood in South Tyneside, Perrie actual moved to Dorset for a number of years, and she also lived in New Zealand for two years when she was a teen.
Perrie Edwards' audition on The X Factor
Although she was most recently 1/4 of Little Mix, Perrie actually auditioned for The X Factor as a solo artist, as did Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.
Perrie was a 17-year-old student when she auditioned for judges Tulisa, Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow back in 2011, singing her own rendition of Alanis Morissette's 'You Oughta Know'.
Whilst Kelly and Gary loved her performance, Tulisa and Louis thought something was missing, but she made it through to Boot Camp regardless.
The judges later decided that they couldn't see Perrie as a solo artist, instead pairing her up with Jesy Nelson to create a duo called Faux Pas. Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall were also put together, with the name Orion.
Both Faux Pas and Orion failed to make it to Judges' Houses, but Kelly Rowland suggested bringing all four girls together, inviting Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade to perform as a four-piece called Rhythmix.
The girls performed Fergie's hit 'Big Girls Don't Cry' at Judges' Houses for mentor Tulisa and guest judge Jessie J, progressing to the live shows. The band were forced to change their name to Little Mix due to legal reasons, and the rest is history!
Little Mix were crowned the winners of The X Factor in 2011 and their winners' single 'Cannonball' went straight to Number 1 in the UK charts.
Who is Perrie Edwards dating?
After dating the likes of One Direction singer Zayn Malik and Our Girl actor Luke Pasqualino in the past, it seems Perrie has now found The One in footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Perrie and Alex have been dating since 2016, with the couple now engaged and living together in a luxurious house in Surrey since 2019. The couple welcomed son Axel in August 2021 and have two dogs together, Hatchi and Travis as well as Perrie's cat Jack.
Perrie shared a super cute video of Axel enjoying snow for the first time at Christmas in 2022 and it's safe to say our hearts melted faster than the snow... Aww!
Speaking to us, Perrie admitted it was hard having a long distance relationship, with Alex working in Turkey. She told us: "Do you know what? I have to be honest, I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it's blooming hard. It's REALLY hard. I'm struggling a bit with the Turkey situation.
"When he played for Arsenal it was great because he was just, you know, down the road, Liverpool, Manchester... Not that bad, but Turkey! Turkey is a little bit further and the thing is they're so busy, like they train every day practically, and he doesn't really get the time, so I have (to).
"Along with juggling my career, my child, and my relationship, I have to do it all, which is fun. So much fun! I also hate flying, so that's great," she joked. "But do you know what? We make it work, because we make it work for the ones we love. So it's fun, it's exciting, it still keeps it fresh, I think."
Is Perrie Edwards pregnant?
Not anymore! Perrie announced that she was expecting her first baby with Alex in May 2021, just a week after bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced her pregnancy with fiancé Andre Gray! The girls gushed over how happy they were to be having Little Mix babies at the same time as each other. Aww! 💕

In October 2020, Perrie announced she was suffering from an agonising injury after slipping a disc in her back, and tearing the base of her spine! When a fan asked: 'Are you still recovering from learning the choreo for the video and the performance on the search?🤔😂'.
Perrie replied saying: 'SERIOUSLY! I recently found out I have a slipped disk & tear in the base of my back/spine and I die every time we dance'. (sic) OUCH!
How much is Perrie Edwards worth?
The Little Mix girls have made some serious money over the last nine years! In 2019, Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh-Anne were included on heat's Rich List, coming in at Number 6 on the list of the 30 richest British celebs under 30.
The girls had a combined wealth of approximately £50 million, meaning Perrie was worth around £12 million at that point.

Rumours that Perrie and Alex were dating first started in November 2016, when Perrie went back to The X Factor with her Little Mix band mates to perform their single 'Shout Out To My Ex'.
Alex was spotted supporting Perrie in the audience, with the footballer posing for photos with a number of fans.

Despite things going quiet between the two over the festive period, Perrie and Alex went Instagram official in January 2017, when Perrie uploaded this cute photo of Alex with their dogs at the dinner table.

Perrie revealed the inspiration behind Axel's middle name was his dad Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Axel's middle name is Xander, and of course with Alex's full name being Alexander, he is the inspiration behind their son's name. Cute!
