Fans have been left confused after noticing a gaffe in a recent episode of EastEnders. Last night viewers saw Robbie Jackson and Donna Yates get trapped in a kitchen as part of a cunning plan, but some eagle-eyed viewers noticed there was a big flaw.

As the pair were left in the kitchen, banging on the door many viewers took to Twitter to point out that Robbie was actually banging on an emergency exit! While Robbie didn't actually try and open the door we'd hope that a fire exit would open.

This gaffe had viewers in hysterics as one said, 'Locked in a kitchen.. with that.. only dopey Robbie can't go out the fire exit 🙄', and another said, 'Locked in a kitchen but stood right next to a fire exit...its a shame people on this show dont have common sense 😂#eastenders'.

Whilst fans were laughing at this gaffe Robbie and Donna were able to resolve their differences and even had a cheeky kiss before Whitney burst in to ruin the romantic moment.

In other EastEnders news, last month it was announced that a new family called the Ahmeds would be moving to Albert Square. Masood's relatives Auntie Mariam and Uncle Arshad will be moving into Masood's rental property, number 41, as they are looking for a larger house to allow them to continue fostering.

Both Indira and Madhav, who play Auntie Mariam and Uncle Arshad, have started filming and will appear on screen in the New Year.

It has also been announced that Maisie Smith will be reprising her role of Tiffany Butcher next year. The 16-year-old actress first joined the popular TV soap in 2008 when she was just six-years-old and immediately became a fan favourite as Bianca and Ricky's cheeky daughter.

Speaking about her return to the soap Maisie said, “It’s great to be back on the set of EastEnders. It’s been lovely to see some old faces and meet new ones too. I can’t wait to show everyone how much Tiffany has changed.”

Since the show’s new creative director John Yorke started earlier this year, the show has seen a number of big changes, with new characters joining and big characters leaving. So next year looks to be an exciting year for the soap.

Now take a look at this year's highest paid TV actresses in our gallery below:

10. Pauley Perrette - $8,500,000

Pauley Perrette plays Abby Sciuto NCIS and the NCIS spin-offs. This year she has also played the part of Robin in a miniseries called When We Rise.
