It's all over for another year! The BRIT Awards 2019 took place at London's O2 Arena on Wednesday 20th February at the ceremony hosted by Jack Whitehall.

As the celebs find a place in their mansions for their new awards and shake off their hangovers, here's everything you need to know about the prestigious BRIT Awards 2019 if you missed it.

Who presented The BRIT Awards 2019?

The BRIT Awards 2019 was presented by none other than Jack Whitehall, who landed the gig for a second year in a row after his hugely successful performance in 2018. For a second consecutive year, comedian and television presenter

Many viewers called Jack the 'best host in years' after his performance last year, which saw him mock the song 'Man's Not Hot' by Big Shaq, with Simon Cowell, Cheryl and Liam Payne, and Little Mix's Jesy Nelson also being the butt of his jokes.

Who was nominated for a BRIT Award in 2019?

A number of high profile stars from both the UK and across the world were nominated for a BRIT Award in 2019.

'New Rules' singer Dua Lipa was the most nominated artist for the second year in a row, with Anne-Marie also bagging four nominations. The likes of George Ezra, Sam Smith, Calvin Harris, Little Mix, Mabel, Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello also picked up nominations in 2019.

Who performed at The BRIT Awards 2019?

BRIT Award bosses lined up a number of major artists to perform at The BRIT Awards 2019. The one and only Hugh Jackman opened the show with music from The Greatest Showman, with Little Mix, George Ezra and last year's Critics' Choice winner Jorja Smith all taking to the stage on the night too.

Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson took to Twitter to confirm the exciting news to their fans, in a tweet which read, '2019 is the gift that keeps on giving!! 🤞🏼💃🏼 We're SO excited to announce that we're going to be performing LIVE at the @brits!! We absolutely cannot wait to be on that stage again and to put on an amazing show for all you guys! ♥️ #BRITs the girls.' sic

Calvin Harris also made his debut performance at the awards, alongside Dua Lipa, Sam Smith AND Rag'n'Bone Man, performing a 'not-to-be missed collaboration'.

Jason Iley, BRITs Chairman and Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK & Ireland said, “I’m delighted that Calvin will be performing at the BRITs for the first time ever; he is a global superstar who has created some of the biggest hits with the biggest artists in the world.

"The stats say it all! He will be joined by a trio of incredible British talent – Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Rag‘n’Bone Man – each of whom are individually amazing performers and have been lighting up the UK charts. This will undoubtedly be one of the stand out moments of the night.”

Jess Glynne also took to the stage for a hugely inspiring performance of new single 'Thursday', and has been praised for the song during which she took off all her makeup, performing alongside 5 x Grammy nominated artist H.E.R. Speaking of the announcement, Jess said, “So excited to bring one of my favourite artists, H.E.R., to the UK and perform at the BRITs together... Y'all in for a treat!!”

H.E.R., the fast-emerging R&B singer from California has said “I love the UK and UK artists. It was a pleasure working with Jess on ‘Thursday’. So excited to be performing with her on The BRIT Awards. It’s going to be so empowering and fun!”

As if this wasn't enough, after being awarded with a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, P!nk also performed.

Who designed the 2019 BRIT Award?

Unveiled on the 4th December 2018, the brand new award is cast from solid glass and designed by Sir David Adjaye OBE. Sir David is one of the world’s leading architects and has won projects around the world, as well as being the founder and principal architect of Adjaye Associates.

Speaking of the new design Sir David said, "The BRIT Awards are a quintessential part of a celebration of British talent and a powerful forum to really talk about the evolving nature of British culture and the contribution of people to that culture."

Who won the 2019 BRITs Critics' Choice Award?

After a shortlist of nominees were revealed for the BRIT Awards Critics' Choice in November 2018, it was North Shields born singer Sam Fender who was crowned the winner.

Speaking about winning the award, Sam Fender said, “I am truly humbled to win the BRITs Critics’ Choice award. Being nominated was crazy enough, never mind winning it. I’m so grateful to everyone back home for believing, and to my band and team for all their hard work.

"We've played literally hundreds of shows this year, and we're going to go even harder in 2019. Most importantly, a big shout to my fans. I've met a lot of you over the last few years and it’s truly an honour to get up and play night after night to such a wonderful bunch of people. To everyone who’s taken a punt on me so far, thank you. Here's to next year!"

The BRITs Critics' Choice Award has kick-stared the careers of some very successful artists in previous years. The likes of Adele, Sam Smith, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, James Bay and Florence and the Machine have all won the award in the past.

What is The BRITs Are Coming?

The BRITs Are Coming aired on ITV on Saturday 11th January, unveiling all of this year's nominees.

The show, which was hosted by Alice Levine, saw some exclusive performances from Liam Payne, Dermot Kennedy, Freya Ridings, Mabel and Aitch, along with revealing the nominations for this year's awards.

The BRIT Awards 2020 with Mastercard will take place on Tuesday 18th February 2020.
