Just when we thought nothing could be more awkward than THAT Oscars moment last week, Zayn Malik accepted an award that he didn't even win at a recent awards show.

Zayn thought he'd picked up the gong for 'Best Music Video' at the iHeartRadio Awards, but little did he know it was actually Fifth Harmony who were victorious!

CONFUSING RIGHT?! 🙈

Well Zayn even sent a message to his fans on Twitter where he thanked his girlfriend and 'Pillowtalk' co-star Gigi Hadid.

He said, "I'm currently in Paris, sorry I can't be there. A little birdie told me that I've actually won an award, so thank you very much."

"I'm very honoured. To everyone that voted, it means a lot, and my co-star's actually sitting next to me right here, so she's gonna say hello as well."

Gigi then appeared and said, "Hello guys. Thanks so much."

Despite Zayn thinking he'd won, girl group Fifth Harmony were named the winner in the same category on the official winners list and on iHeartRadio's Twitter account.

Even Ty Dolla $ign, who features on Fifth Harmony's track 'Work From Home', seemed completely confused when he asked if they'd won.

SO AWKWARD!

The confusing story doesn't end there. After things seemed to settle down, iHeartRadio later announced that Zayn had actually won 'Best Solo Breakout Artist' and not 'Best Music Video'.

In a tweet they wrote, 'Congrats @zaynmalik on winning #BestSoloBreakout artist at our #iHeartAwards. We love the speech!'

So despite things looking like they've been cleared up, some fans speculated the awards show 'made up' a category for Zayn to win after realising their awkward gaffe.

Is anybody else seriously confused at the whole situation?!

To get over the seriously cringeworthy moment, lets all watch Zayn's video for 'Pillowtalk'.
