Emmerdale actress Charley Webb has opened up ahead of her hugely anticipated return to the soap following her maternity leave.

Charley, who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap, is expected to return to Emmerdale later in the week when she returns to the village with her on-screen children.

After almost a year off from the soap, Charley has opened up about her return. She told Mirror Online, "I definitely have mixed feelings about coming back. I'm excited but also a little apprehensive about leaving the baby. I've missed being here. I've missed the crew a lot. I'm looking forward to jumping straight in at the deep end!"

Emmerdale bosses have been teasing Charley’s return to the soap in the last few weeks, with teasers revealing her character Debbie is on the run after finding herself in ‘big trouble’.

In scenes which are set to air this week, Debbie returns to the village and is later tracked down by two violent men. The men use the whereabouts of Debbie’s children as a form of blackmail and demand she gives them money in order to see her kids again.

Charley temporarily left the soap last year when she welcomed her second child into the world with her fiancé and fellow Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden.

Proud mum Charley announced the birth of her second son in a sweet tweet on New Year’s Eve in 2015. The couple then held off until March to reveal the name of their son and were forced to explain it was not a tribute to the late David Bowie.

Speaking at the time, Charley said, “Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of David Bowie but that wasn’t why we chose the name. We just both loved it.”

The pair also share their seven-year-old son Buster together.

Actress Charley first appeared on Emmerdale way back in 2002 at the age of only 14. Since then she has become a popular character with fans and has won an array of awards including ‘Best Actress’ at the British Soap Awards in 2009.

You can watch Charley’s return as Debbie Dingle on Emmerdale throughout this week.
