Simon Cowell is making big changes to The X Factor

Talent show The X Factor has been on our TV screens every year since 2004 so it's no surprise some viewers are getting a bit bored of the same format.
Well if new rumours are true, producer Simon Cowell is set to make some big changes for this year's show to try and pull back in viewers.

Simon is planning some 'drastic' changes for the show which include scrapping novelty acts such as Honey G and Jedward, filming some parts of boot camp in front of an audience and making contestants be axed on both the Saturday and Sunday shows, rather than just the Sunday night results show.
As well as these changes, auditions for the new series are set to take place at various theme parks around the country, with the first taking place at Thorpe Park on Saturday 8th July.
Viewing figures of The X Factor have dropped in recent years and the show had it's lowest ever final show rating when Matt Terry was crowned the champion in 2016.
Back in 2009 when Joe McElderry won the show, the ratings peaked at 17.1 million on the final show, compared to only seven million last year.
However despite the changes to the format, all four judges will remain on the panel!
Simon will be joined by Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger when the new series kicks off later in the year.

Auditions for the new series have already started and just last week Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon was asked to sit in for Mrs O after she was forced to miss out of the Edinburgh auditions due to serious back pain.
Alesha had previously sat in for Nicole during the Manchester auditions, after the former Pussycat Doll was away on other work commitments.
The X Factor has created a number of high profile stars over the years, including the likes of One Direction, Little Mix and Olly Murs.
