A woman in her 70s has been struck by a van which was reversing in Bridport town centre, with police looking to trace the driver.

The victim fell to the ground following the collision in East Street, near Natwest bank, at around 8.30am on Sunday (3rd March).

She grazed her elbow, but didn't need hospital treatment.

A white Ford Transit involved had been parked up at the side of the road, and was reversing when the crash happened, but the driver didn't stop at the scene.

PC Maddie Barber, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are investigating this incident and from our enquiries I understand there were a number of people in the area around the time of the collision.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would urge the driver of the van involved to do the right thing and please come forward so we can take your account.”
