Homeless man has wallet stolen in Weymouth

The incident happened at Custom House Quay

A man of no fixed abode has had his wallet stolen in Weymouth.

The victim, in his 60s, was talking to another man he believed to be homeless, on a raised platform at Custom House Quay, at around 6.30pm last Wednesday (11th October).

He get his wallet out of his pocket, when someone ran past and snatched it, before running off in the direction of the Town Bridge.

PC Robert Coram, of Weymouth police, said:

“There would have been a number of people in the area at the time and I would ask anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch.

“In particular, I am keen to hear from the man who the victim was speaking to when the incident occurred as they may have important information to help my enquiries. He is described as carrying a dark-coloured rucksack with a sleeping bag rolled on top.”
