A march against knife crime is being held in Bournemouth town centre today (Saturday 12 August).

It follows the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Cameron Hamilton in the early hours of last Saturday (5 August).

Four men were arrested in connection with incident, with two later being charged with murder.

The march will begin at Midday.

John Woods, the ambassador at charity Gloves Up, Knives Down, fears knife crime "has been rising for a number of years."

"Something needs to be done urgently, because it can't carry on with these youngsters taking each other's lives," Mr Woods said.

He urged people to consider that "one day, this could be one of their kids, or their brothers, or their sisters."

"These kids are too young to lose their life," he said.

Jae Harris, from the Christchurch based Somerford Youth and Community Centre, added that more needs to be done before, rather than after, knife crime incidents.

He says that discussions largely only take place "after, sadly, the events of last weekend."
