Two men charged with Weymouth burglaries

Two men have been charged in connection with two burglaries reported in Weymouth.

The incidents happened in Shirecroft Road at around 2.00pm on Monday (11th March).

Officers attended and arrested two men at the scene.

Following enquiries, a 38 year old from Basingstoke and a 45 year old from Weymouth were both charged with burglary and assault with intent to commit robbery.

They appeared at Poole Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday 13th March) and have been remanded in custody to appear before Bournemouth Crown Court next month.

There's an ongoing witness appeal as investigations continue.

Detective Sergeant Claire Lloyd, of Weymouth Volume Crime Team, said:

“We would like to thank the vigilant members of the public who reported this incident to police.

“This enabled officers to respond and take action, with two suspects now arrested and charged.

“We are continuing to investigate this matter and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I would also urge residents and motorists who were in the area to check any CCTV systems, doorbell cameras or dashcam footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
