Weymouth's match against Yeovil in the National League South has been abandoned after a 'medical emergency' in the stands.

Play at the Bob Lucas Stadium was stopped in the 77th minute after a fan in the Yeovil end was taken ill.

An air ambulance landed on the pitch to take the fan to hospital.

The game - which the Terras were leading 1-0 - was abandoned due to the length of time for the suspension.

Weymouth have now confirmed the game is being investigated by the National League and the FA.

In a statement, the Terras say:

"Following the abandonment of yesterday fixture with Yeovil Town, we can confirm that the match is now being investigated by the National League and The FA. Once they have concluded that investigation and informed us of the next steps we will report back to supporters.

"Our thoughts remain with the individual involved, who we understand to be in hospital receiving the best possible care."

Weymouth are now 15th in the National League South on 51 points, 11 clear of the relegation zone with six games left to play.

They next play away at Eastbourne Borough on Saturday.
