A large rave has been disrupted by police in North Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police say they received reports of vehicles gathering near Davidstow on Saturday just before midnight.

Convoys of hundreds of vehicles were spotted heading towards the area.

Police say surrounding roads were blocked, with people driving towards the event being turned away.

One officer's car was reportedly rammed by someone trying to force entry to the site.

Devon and Cornwall Police say they seized vans carrying music equipment.

Local Policing Superintendent Rob Youngman said:

"We know firsthand the impact that these types of events have on local communities and how disruptive they can be.

"Last night we acted quickly on information that was coming into us and deployed a range of resources across the area in order to stop this event from taking place here.

"I’m grateful to those who reported the information to us and to the officers who acted quickly and robustly to prevent the situation from escalating."
