As the excitement for the BRIT Awards 2019 is beginning to hot up, with the BRITs 2019 host announced as Jack Whitehall, for the second year in a row, and the Critics' Choice nominees revealed, we now get to see what the 2019 BRIT Award will look like!

Unveiled today (4th December), the new award is cast from solid glass and designed by Sir David Adjaye OBE. Sir David is one of the world’s leading architects and has won projects around the world as well as being the founder and principal architect of Adjaye Associates.

Speaking of the new design Sir David said, "The BRIT Awards are a quintessential part of a celebration of British talent and a powerful forum to really talk about the evolving nature of British culture and the contribution of people to that culture."

He continued, "My take on the BRIT trophy is the manifestation of a great material forged in fire and shaped into the body of a woman.

"She is unique, and proportionally she is very different. For me, designing the award was an opportunity to question and explore - what is the nature of perfection and imperfection, what is the notion of beauty... it was exciting to transfer those ideas to a smaller object. Now, we have something that I really, really love; I’m very happy with it."

The BRIT Award was commissioned by Jason Iley, BRITs Chairman and CEO and Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland, who said of the award, "David’s treatment has surpassed my expectations, continuing the transformation of the award, as well as building on the legacy of outstanding creativity over the past few years."

The unveiling of this new award comes just a week after Jack Whitehall was announced as the host for next year's BRIT Awards, which will take place once again in The O2 Arena in London.
