Heartbreaking news 💔

Author: Alex RossPublished 25th Apr 2021

Reality TV star Ashley Cain and his partner Safiyya Vorajee have confirmed the devastating news that their eight-month-old daughter Azaylia has passed away after losing her battle with Leukemia.

The former Ex On The Beach contestant revealed the tragic news on social media today (Sunday 25th April) sharing a heartbreaking post on Instagram. He wrote, 'Rest In Paradise Princess 👼🏼🌈 I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven ❤️😢 #AzayliaDiamondCain' #(sic)

Ashley's girlfriend Safiyya wrote,'👼🌈You are my Angel my heartbeat my soul, RIP my precious baby, you will always be with me like a handprint on my heart 🧡 🤚 🙏🏼👼 🌈'. (sic)

Azaylia was diagnosed with the aggressive cancer at just eight-weeks-old and in recent months has been undergoing extensive treatment.

On Thursday 8th April, Ashley uploaded an emotional 10-minute video where he confirmed his baby girl only had days left to live after doctors found more tumours throughout Azaylia's little body.

He said, "Where do I start? Where do I start? A lot has happened. A whole lot. Too much to write in a caption, too much to explain in a picture, so I thought I'd do a video.

"So last week we had the bone marrow test and the lumber puncture and bloods taken to send to Singapore in the hope that they could create a CAR-T therapy to save Azaylia's life.

"Then we had to have a CT scan on her head and the results came back the next day, saying that Azaylia's got two very big tumours on her brain.

"They also said that the intrathecal treatment that is usually given to treat leukemia in the spine or the brain will not be available, because she has too much pressure with these tumours. And if they tried to even go through the spinal tap it would kill her. At that point, obviously, our world came down."

Ashley then added, "Because obviously, the current chemotherapy that we were doing was for her blood, not the tumours in her brain.

"Consultants said that they think she's only got one, two days to live, and it could even be that night. So, we took Azaylia home with the palliative care team and stuff.

"It was scary. You walk into your little daughter's room and there's big oxygen tanks and stuff like that and it was horrible.

"We took her home. She was on high levels of pain relief and we tried to enjoy every little bit we could, but it was tough. We got through the first night, we got through the second night, but we noticed that Azaylia wasn't really here properly."

Azaylia's mum Safiyya also shared her pain after discovering the heartbreaking news about her daughter's health earlier this week.

She wrote, 'With a heavy painful heart i share the saddest news of my life 😢 ❤️🙏🏼

'After Azaylia’s CT and ultrasound scan we have been informed by consultants that they have found tumours in Azaylia’s brain, but also in her kidneys, liver, lungs and spleen. Consultants said there is no way to tackle the tumours on her brain because of the high pressure in her head. Her chemotherapy is also not reducing the disease in her blood anymore because it is that aggressive. Today we also found out that Singapore has not been able to create a CART treatment to cure Azaylia because of the rarity and aggressiveness of her leukemia. This was our last, our only and our final option to save Azaylia and her disease was even too complex for them. So we will be now returning home with our beautiful baby to give her the best possible time left that we can.

'I am so proud of my baby girl she has been fighting for so so long, and doesn’t deserve this to happen to her! there isn’t enough words out there to describe the heartache & pain I’m feeling but I’m incredibly honoured to have become a mummy to my precious girl❤️

'I don’t have many words at this difficult time But for now Thankyou for all your love & support for Azaylia and us as a family ❤️❤️❤️'. (sic)

Fans and celebrities across the land raised over £1 million in under 24 hours at the end of March, in order to help Azaylia by getting specialist treatment called CAR-T therapy in Singapore.

However, as Ashley explained in his video, doctors later found more aggressive tumours throughout Azaylia's body, including two in her brain, meaning they were unable to carry out the treatment.

After updating fans earlier this month, Ashley and Safiyya were able to take their daughter home to spend quality time with her, but they were forced to go back and forward from hospital due to Azaylia suffering from extensive nose bleeds and other complications.

On Tuesday 13th April, a nationwide doorstep clap was arranged in support of Azaylia and on Sunday 18th April, landmarks across the UK lit up orange.

Azaylia was then taken back into hospital on Tuesday 20th April, where she received another platelet transfusion to help prevent any blood clots and internal bleeding.

On Friday 23rd April, Safiyya gave another update about her daughter's health, she wrote on Instagram, 'When I wake up in the morning and see your beautiful face my heart instantly overflows with abundance of love for you ❤️

'Being your mummy has taught me a lot about life, myself & other people for this lesson I am grateful for 🧡.

'This journey We have been on I have had some of the best days of my life, watching you hit all your milestones 👑 and just enjoying being a mummy to you🙏🏼 I have no time to think or attend to my own feelings or wants because yours come first, that’s what mummy’s are for 😘😘

'Azaylia's eyes are intensely dry for which she now has to have eye drops so her eyes can move 😢 along with platelet transfusions, and so much more, azaylias care is 24/7🙏🏼🧡.

'Feeling the heartache more and more today, as the Nurses woke me up this morning for a home visit & told me to enjoy the weekend as they now think her body is slowly shutting down, I got told this a couple of weeks ago and she has stayed so strong through this I’m so proud of how strong you are Azaylia 🧡.

'Hearing these words, rips and tears my heart and soul into pieces watching my little girl get tired is painful 😥 but giving her 100% everyday is what she was promised, even when her eyes are closed I talk sing and shake her fav rattles so she is constantly surrounded by a positive vibe🧡🙏🏼.

'Appreciating the day the hour and the min is something I never thought I would do as we all take life for granted.

'I decided to put Azaylia in her pram outside in the shade today to enjoy some fresh air and hear different sounds, remember it’s the small things in life that really make a difference.

'Azaylia your my inspiration & my hero mummy loves you 🙏🏼🧡

'For everyone reading this Have a lovely day enjoy your moments they are special. 😘🧡🧡🧡'. (sic)

Our thoughts are with Ashley, Safiyya and all of their family at this heartbreaking time.
