Channing Tatum rumoured for (another) new Ghostbusters film

‘Foxcatcher’ actor Channing Tatum is reportedly being lined up to star in a new Ghostbusters film.
The new film will follow-up next year’s reboot which will feature a female-led cast.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures plan to broaden the franchise alongside production company Ghost Corps, involving original director Ivan Reitman and actor Dan Aykroyd.
Reitman said: “We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will involve different films, TV shows, merchandise and all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment.”
It is claimed the new film will be shot in 2016 and released the following year.
He continued: “It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”
The involvement of Channing Tatum’s Free Association production company has sparked suggestions that the ’21 Jump Street’ actor will appear in the film.
Reitman said: "Sometimes things happen at the speed they are supposed to happen. The deals were so strong on that second movie that the franchise became frozen in place 25 years.
"Nothing got done, we all had the power to block whatever we didn't like, but we finally got together and found a way."
The Ghostbusters franchise was reinvigorated earlier this year following the announcement of the first new film led by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
"Director Paul Feig has got four of the funniest women in the world and there will be other surprises to come,” said Reitman.
“The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that.”
The new female-led Ghostbusters will hit cinemas on 22nd July 2016.
