The Chase is one of the most popular quiz shows on TV but now it has found itself in a ‘fix scandal’ over claims the Chaser is given extra time in the show’s final round.

On an episode which aired on Wednesday night (6th April), eagle eyed viewers seemed to notice the Chaser’s countdown clock being given extra time.

As the team of contestants watched on in hope they would be leaving with a share of £27,000, the clock appeared to pause on 10 seconds for a lengthy amount of time, before finally dropping down to nine.

Although the team ended up beating the Chaser, viewers of the show took to Twitter to express their anger.

One user wrote 'I have proof the chaser gets more time than the contestants!' with another writing 'Added an extra second on for the chaser, 10 seconds turned to 10 seconds'.

Despite the accusations, the production company for The Chase say they employ an independent monitoring company to ensure all questions are fair, selected at random and balanced.

The scandal comes just days after show host, Bradley Walsh, jokingly collapsed on the floor in a fit of giggles when he read out a question. It read “In 2015, the third party US Presidential candidate had what name?”.

Of course, it wasn’t the question that sent Bradley into disbelief, it was the answers.

Holding back his laughter Bradley read out the options, ‘Doz Balls’, ‘Deez Nuts’ and ‘Dem Plumbs’ with the audience bursting into giggles.
