Coronation Street star Mikey North and his wife Rachael Isherwood have revealed they welcomed a baby boy into the world three months ago.

Mikey, who plays Gary Windass in the ITV soap, announced they welcomed a baby boy on November 10th and called him Archie.

However, it wasn't the easiest of births for Mikey's wife Rachael. Speaking to OK! Magazine, the couple described the birth as a 'chainsaw massacre' after Rachael was almost forced to undergo a blood transfusion when her episiotomy (a medical procedure) didn't go to plan.

Rachael said, "I had to have an episiotomy but unfortunately they cut through a vein and I lost one and a half litres of blood,"

Mikey also described the terrifying ordeal and admitted, "I had tears in my eyes just watching."

Despite the traumatic labour, both mother and baby are now doing well and it seems the couple love having little Archie in their lives.

The Coronation Street actor first revealed he was expecting his first child with Rachael back in October 2016.

Speaking at the time, the 30-year-old said, “I was amazed. It's such a big miracle to happen in the first place. You find out and realise that your life is going to change forever."

Explaining she was convinced she was pregnant, Mikey’s wife Rachael also added, “I was doing tests for a week before because I was convinced I was pregnant, but they kept saying negative. But I just felt different."

The couple married back in January 2016, with Mikey believing little Archie was conceived on their wedding night.

Congratulations to the happy couple! 👶
