Also getting involved with this special day was Britain's Got Talent. The official account posted a video with the message 'Our #BGT gals are nothing short of inspirational! 💪❤️ #IWD2018'.

Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon also joined us recently to launch a new campaign, to coincide with International Women's Day. With recent stats revealing a massive 140,000 girls miss school because they can't afford basic sanitary protection, Alesha is launching the End Period Poverty campaign with Always.

Alesha told our reporter Jo Parkerson that she felt shocked at the recent stats. "Obviously you know there are lots of underprivileged people, even within the UK, but I didn't realise just how many girls are missing school," she told us.
