Former X Factor winner James Arthur has reportedly been hospitalised after being attacked during a night out in his hometown Middlesbrough.

According to reports, James was taken to hospital after being glassed with a bottle in a pub in Redcar. An eye witness said “James was glassed inside a pub and police have confirmed the victim of the assault had been taken to hospital for treatment.”

He later seemed to ignore the incident when he wrote 'Good night in Redcar tonight'.

James shot to fame back in 2012 when he won the ninth series of The X Factor. Beating off competition from the likes of Jahmene Douglas and Ella Henderson, James went on to release his debut song ‘Impossible’ which topped the UK charts in the first week.
