One Direction stars Zayn and Louis warned about drugs

A video was leaked last year allegedly showing the pair smoking cannabis

One Direction duo Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson could lose more than £3,000 each if they are caught using or promoting illegal drugs in Manila.

Ahead of 1D’s two gigs in the Philippine capital city this weekend, the band members have been asked to post bonds of £3,300 each for a special work permit.

This follows a video that was leaked last May allegedly showing Zayn and Louis smoking cannabis in Peru.

It is understood that if the bonds are not paid before the concerts, the band will be prevented from performing.

“The condition is intended to protect public interest, should the band members commit any violation during their stay in the Philippines," said Elaine Tan, of the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.

According to Anti-Drugs Advocate, money was posted for the bonds on Thursday.

However the group has also called for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to send officers to monitor the band.

“We want to see their pure, raw, untainted talent,” said Christine Ching, spokesperson for the group.

She added that there was concern regarding the band’s influence on Filipino youth.

Following the video leak last year, 1D’s Liam tweeted an apology, posting: “I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways. I apologise for that.”

“We are only in our 20s and we all do stupid things at this age.”

One Direction are set to play at the seaside Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, Manila, on 21st and 22nd March.
