Paula Lane has revealed what it was like finding out that her character would be killed off.

The actress who plays Kylie Platt in Coronation Street made the decision to leave earlier this year, but details of how she would exit the popular soap were only released over the weekend.

In the interview the 30-year-old actress told how Kieran Roberts, the executive producer, sat her down and told her the plans for Kylie's exit.

"I was excited," she said, "you don’t get to have that kind of exit every day and people will really remember it so I am really pleased."

Being a major character meant that it was likely that Kylie would have a big impactful exit from the show and Paula was happy with that. "I am excited to play it and see people’s reaction." she commented.

After six years in the soap Paula felt it was time to move on. She had initially only been contracted to work for six months on Coronation Street, but found her character written into some major storylines.

Although the exact details of Kylie's death have not been revealed, Paula said it was one of the most shocking deaths in Corrie history and she thinks the audience will be left shocked and surprised.
