Fans on Twitter hadn't been sympathetic.

After being branded the 'worst ever' contestant on The Chase, Hannah Mastrangelo has hit back saying she's not dumb because she has a gold Duke of Edinburgh award.

She told The Argus that the backlash on Twitter was 'unfair', adding:

"I achieved nine A* at GCSE, five AS and three A levels and received a gold Duke of Edinburgh award. So the perception of me as a dumb student isn't true."

On Twitter people weren't sympathetic to the student from West Sussex, who failed to answer a question right in the Cash Builder round.

Even TV presenters Ant and Dec thought she was bad.

There was another awkward moment too when host Bradley Walsh asked the French and Italian student to say 'Hello Brad it’s a pleasure being on The Chase' but all she only responded with ‘Bonjour’ and ‘Ciao’.

The contestant insisted at the time of filming she hadn't even began studying at university despite being introduced as a university student.

See how she did on the show:

Hannah didn't do too badly overall, leaving the show with £2,666.

The Chase recently won the award of 'Best Daytime Show' at the National Television Awards 2016.
