American singer Anastacia has become the tenth celebrity to join the ever growing Strictly Come Dancing line-up for the brand new series.

The 47-year-old revealed the news this morning (Friday 19th August) and admitted she ‘can’t wait’ to get started on the dancefloor.

Speaking about appearing on the show she said “I’m a total 10 on the level of excitement and definitely a 10 scared. Seriously though, I can’t wait to get started. Taking part in Strictly is a dream. I’ve got a lot of training to do before I’m twinkle toes so I’m eager to get my partner and get going.”

Anastacia has endured a string of health issues over the past few years including Crohn’s disease, breast cancer and a heart condition. The ‘Left Outside Alone’ singer underwent a double mastectomy but now feels it’s a ‘perfect time’ to help her get used to her upper body.

She said “After my double mastectomy, it striped away a part of me that I feel I would like to find again. This opportunity has come at a perfect time to help me use and get to know my upper body again.

Anastacia shot to fame back in 2000 when she released her debut track ‘I’m Outta Love’ and went on to have a number of successful hits such as ‘Left Outside Alone’ and ‘One Day In Your Life’.
