Speaking to Billboard magazine he said he likes a 'challenge' and women that are 'chunky in certain areas - I like a fuller woman'.
The singer insists he's not just interested in looks as he wants a woman who cares about more than her looks. This has led to speculation by fans that this is a dig at ex fiancé Perrie Edwards.
He added, "I enjoy an intellectual conversation as well, where someone can construct a sentence beyond what hair and makeup they’re wearing, and talk about something political or about the world. I like an opinion."
Zayn is now dating model Gigi Hadid after breaking off his engagement to Perrie last year.
