It’s been 10 months since his controversial decision to leave the world’s biggest boyband, and now Zayn Malik has declared the relationship with his former band mates is not as good as it once was.

After originally saying he had ‘four friends for life’ back in March 2015, the 22-year-old has told Billboard magazine “I’ve reached out to a few of them and not got a reply.”

The singer went on to say “I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people.”

Former band mate Louis Tomlinson suggested Zayn was distancing himself back in July when he spoke about the situation on the Jonathon Ross Show, claiming “I think he wants to distance himself from 1D”.

Zayn fans are hoping he'll release his debut album this year after teasing his new single 'Befour'.
