It's been ten years in the making, but Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is now just months away from hitting UK cinema screens. The film, which is the follow-up to the 2008 hit movie Mamma Mia!, has now been given a release date of 20th July and the brand new trailer has got fans very excited.

The movie stars the likes of Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Cher, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Dominic Cooper and Julie Walters, and newbies Lily James, Jeremy Irvine and Hugh Skinner. Watch the brand new trailer below:

Despite reports suggesting Meryl Streep won't have any new parts in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the Hollywood legend does feature on the brand new promotional poster, leading fans to think she could still appear in the hugely anticipated movie after all.

This time round the movie goes back and forth in time to show how relationships formed from the first film back in 2008. As the main storyline focuses on Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) being pregnant, the film shows fans 'how it all began' before Donna (Meryl Streep) moved to the infamous Kalokairi island.

Musical legend Cher also stars in the movie as Sophie's grandmother, with the singer being given a number of famous ABBA tracks to sing.

Like the first movie in 2008, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again features loads of classic songs from the Swedish group ABBA, including the tracks 'Mamma Mia', 'Dancing Queen' and 'Angel Eyes'.

Speaking about the 2018 movie, ABBA's Benny Andersson said, "It's more of a prequel really, because it's about everything that happened before they ended up on Kalokairi island,"

"It's Donna when she was young, Meryl Streep when she was young, and what happened when she met the three dads. As well as what happened after the previous film finishes. So it's a prequel and a sequel."

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hits UK cinemas on Friday 20th July!
