We're just over a week away from the release of Mamma Mia 2 and as excitement is brimming before the release, finally Meryl Streep has spoken out about her involvement in the sequel to the hugely popular 2008 film Mamma Mia.

Whilst there were many rumours surrounding the whereabouts of Meryl's character Donna in the trailers for the new film, Pierce Brosnan let slip a massive spoiler earlier this week when he confirmed she would be in Mammia Mia 2.

Speaking on This Morning Pierce said, "I just got the call one day to say, 'We’re on!' I asked if Amanda was doing it, they said, 'Yes', I asked if Meryl was doing it, they said, 'Yes' so I said 'I’m in!'"

After hearing this Phillip Schofield couldn't contain himself, and immediately drew attention to the mistake, saying, "You did a bit of a spoiler. I don't know if you realised you just did a bit of a spoiler," causing Pierce to look confused as Holly told him not to panic.

Phil added, "We were keeping many things secret. Maybe I should let it go and if you spotted what the spoiler was well done."

Now, in a featurette uploaded by Universal Pictures, Meryl herself has appeared saying, “I really never thought that there would be a sequel”, going on to explain, “When this script came, it took my breath away.”

She then added, “Walking onto the set and seeing Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard and Pierce Brosnan and Christine Baranski and Julie Walters and Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried. The music starts up and you put on the spandex and honey... it all comes together."
