Since the beginning of August Avicii has been teasing some new music, his first since he announced his retirement from touring last year.

To celebrate Avicii's amazing career we have gathered together some little known facts about the Swedish dance DJ.

1) Avicii's real name is Tim Bergling.

2) He said his stage name comes from Avici which is the lowest level of Buddist hell, however the name was taken on MySpace so he added another 'i', hence Avicii.

3) 'LE7ELS' was the song that launched Avicii into the mainstream charts, it reached the top 10 all around the world. The song included a sample of 'Something's Got a Hold on Me' by Etta James.

4) At the age of just eight he started mixing in his bedroom.

5) Avicii's song 'Fade into Darkness' incorporates elements of 'Perpetuum Mobile' by Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

6) Before words were added to 'Fade into Darkness' it was called 'Penguin'.

7) 'Penguin' was sampled by Leona Lewis on her single 'Collide', but it wasn't originally credited, so Avicii attempted to block the single's release. Eventually it was settled out of court stating that the pair would work together on the single.

8) He was born in Stockholm, Sweden on 8th September 1989.

9) Avicii says that his key musical influences are Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia and Eric Prydz.

10) His mother is a famous Swedish actress called Anki Lidén and has appeared in countless films.

11) When Avicii reached two million followers on Facebook he released a song called 'Two Million'.

12) Two of his songs have been nominated for GRAMMYs for Best Dance Recording, 'Sunshine' in 2012 and 'LE7ELS' in 2013.

13) Avicii performed at the Swedish royal wedding of Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and Sofia Hellqvist.
