Britney Spears makes music comeback with epic Elton John collab

After the rumours started back in July, it was no surprise that that Britney Spears would be making a music comeback. Now, the epic collab with none other than Elton John has finally arrived.
Rumours of the collab first started when Page Six reported that the pair had met for a 'secret' recording session in Beverly Hills, California, reworking one of Elton's classic songs 'Tiny Dancer'. The rumours were later confirmed by Elton on Instagram.

Britney and Elton's new song is called 'Hold Me Closer' is was first teased by Elton on 8th August, who posted the song title along with rose and rocket emojis.
Is there a music video for 'Hold Me Closer'?
The official music video was released on 27th September, and was created by award-winning director Tanu Muino. He has previously worked with the likes of Harry Styles, Cardi B and Lizzo, and said of the video: "Going into this video, I knew there would be a lot of emotional expectations the audience and fans would have.
"With this responsibility, I had to do something different and unexpected. The visuals had to be different. The dance had to be forward-thinking to raise eyebrows and make Elton and Britney proud."

Ahead of the music video being released, Elton's YouTube channel shared the official audio with a visualiser video. The video shows an animated rocket taking off from a bed of roses, with petals coming out from behind it.

Yes, 'Hold Me Closer' was leaked overnight on 18th August, with a clip of the new song widely shared across social media. Britney's fans were up in arms about the leak taking to Twitter to vent their frustration.
One fan wrote on Twitter: ' When Renaissance was leaking the Beyhive didn’t listen to it, they patiently waited out of respect for Beyoncé but a lot of Britney fans can’t even give Britney that respect for Hold Me Closer? Insane'.
Another fan responded saying: 'This fanbase has been like this for as long as I can remember, and it continues to frustrate me to no end. ðŸ˜'.
Was there a sneak preview of 'Hold Me Closer'?
Fans got a teaser of the song before it was released when Elton John put on a surprise performance at a restaurant in Cannes earlier this week.
We also got to hear a snippet of the song's chorus in an animated video that showed a rocket taking off from a field of roses, explaining the emoji clues used in all the posts about the song.
What do we know about 'Hold Me Closer'?
Opening up to Fleur East and the team on our sister station Hits Radio, Elton told how it was ultimately his manager and husband David Furnish who had the idea, although he had worked with producer Andrew Watt on the idea of combining two of his classic songs 'Tiny Dancer' and 'The One'."
"We had the idea for the song, Andy Watt (producer) had the idea of doing ‘Tiny Dancer’ and then I put ‘The One’ in front of ’Tiny Dancer’, so we had two songs going into each other, bit like 'Cold Heart' with Dua," Elton explained.
"And then, it was David, my manager and husband, who said ‘how about Britney Spears doing it?’ and I went ‘you know what, that’s one of the most brilliant ideas ever!’ No one would have thought of Britney and you know, we’ve been kind of in a Britney bubble, because we’ve watched the documentary, and been following what’s happened to her.
"I said, I’d love her to do it, because a) I’d love to sing with her and b) I think it would be good for her, you know, it would be tremendously good for her. So, we approached her, and I think she was a little nervous, but she went into the studio in LA with Andrew, and she sang brilliantly, and the result is ‘Hold Me Closer’, so it all worked out, and I’m happy because she’s gotten back to… this is about music, it’s not personal life, it’s music."
Andrew Watt has previously worked with the likes of Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran.
Speaking about the new release, Elton John said: "I am absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to work with Britney Spears. She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and she sounds amazing on this record. I love her dearly and am delighted with what we've created together."
Britney Spears also said: "I was so honoured when the incredible Sir Elton John asked me to join him on one his most iconic songs. We are so excited for the fans to hear it! Thank you, Elton, for having me! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you and your legendary mind."

In 2021, Bey's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, won her first Grammy for Best Music Video for her performance in 'Brown Skin Girl', she was only nine years and 66 days at the time.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé herself is also a Guinness World Record Holder. In 2021 she broke the record for Most Grammy Awards won by a female artist, having won a massive 28 awards throughout her career (at the time).
In 2022, she led the Grammy nominations in a massive nine categories including Record Of The Year and Song of The Year for 'Break My Soul', she then won a massive four Grammys, including Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Coldplay, consisting of lead singer and guitarist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion and creative director Phil Harvey, started out when they met at university in the 90s.
It wasn't until they'd finished university and had a couple of name changes, that the band finally settled on the name Coldplay, and signed a five-album deal with Parlophone, releasing their debut single 'Brothers & Sisters'.

Fast forward a few years and Lewis has won two BRIT Awards, for Best New Artist and Song of the Year, for 'Someone You Loved', both in 2020.

He scored a Number 1 album in 2019 for 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent', and five Top 10 songs in total including, 'Before You Go' and 'Hold Me While You Wait'.
The singer has also announced that his second album is called 'Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent' and will be released in May 2023.

P!nk started performing in clubs when she was just 14, when she started using her stage name, that's still known by today.
It was in 2000 that she released her debut single 'There You Go' followed by her debut album, 'Can't Take Me Home'.

Over two decades later, with nine studio albums and 30 Top 20 singles later, it's safe to say that P!nk has had a successful career in music so far!

Rihanna has also had six headline concert tours, along with a co-headline tour with Eminem, as well as winning nine Grammys.
2022 was a pretty big year for the singer - not only did she give birth to her and A$AP Rocky's son in May, but she also revealed that she will be performing at the 2023 Super Bowl Half-Time show - AND she dropped her first single in six-years, 'Lift Me Up' for the Black Panther 2 soundtrack.
