Camila Cabello has been enjoying solo success with 'Bad Things' with Machine Gun Kelly, but as she reveals in a recent interview it was scary leaving behind Fifth Harmony.

Camila had been part of Fifth Harmony since their formation on The X Factor US in 2012 and saw huge success on both sides of the Atlantic, but late last year she decided to part from the group that made her famous.

Speaking to Fault magazine Camila said,

"I think the scariest part about it is leaving a successful project to pursue a new dream with a path full of questions of self-discovery that only you can answer."

While she felt grateful to be part of Fifth Harmony she said expressing herself as an artist "became a necessity" and so she decided to leave.

The 20-year-old singer has co-written a number of songs over the years, both for her former group and a number of other artists, saying she had always wanted to be a songwriter.

"I think as I was writing I found my own voice as an artist and as a person, and I’m discovering more about it every day," she explained.

Camila has plans to release more new music before the summer and her debut solo album in the autumn.

Camila’s new single ‘Hey Ma’, a collaboration with Pitbull and J Balvin was recorded for the Fast of the Furious 8 soundtrack as it out now.
