'Despacito' breaks a huge YouTube world record

The hit song 'Despacito' has broken a YouTube world record to become the most watched video EVER! The pop reggaeton song became a massive hit last year, originally with the Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee version, and later with the vocals of popstar Justin Bieber added.

The Spanish-language music video for the original version has now had over five billion views, leaving behind competition from Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth's 'See You Again' which has had 3.5 billion views and Ed Sheeran's 'Shape Of You' with 3.4 billion views.

Reaching a massive five billion views is an amazing feat, but this isn't the first time 'Despacito' has broken a world record. Last year it has also broke some other Guinness World Records including Most viewed music video online, Most viewed video online, and Most viewed music video on YouTube (duet).

Last year it also broke the record for the Most weeks at number 1 in the USA (single) in September 2017 after being featured for 16 consecutive weeks. It then became the Most streamed track worldwide after being played 4.6 billion times across the globe.

Following the success of the Spanish-language original a remix of this popular song featuring Justin Bieber was released in April last year and reached number 1 in the UK.

The 'Despacito' remix was one of the biggest collaborations last year, check out some of the other big collaborations, including another Spanish-language hit, 'Reggaeton Lento' (remix) with Little Mix and CNCO.
