Ellie Goulding has now released her fifth album 'Higher Than Heaven', which was originally announced back in October 2022.

On the day of release, Ellie took to Instagram to tell her fans: 'My fifth studio album Higher Than Heaven is out now. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your love, warmth and well wishes. Quite simply, I love you! Ellie x'.

Following the release of the album Clean Bandit commented: '❤️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥' and a fan wrote: 'I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for releasing it 🥹❤️❤️'.

How did Ellie announce 'Higher Than Heaven'?

Taking to Instagram on 19th October 2022, Ellie shared the news with fans, writing: 'Higher Than Heaven. My fifth studio album. Out Feb. 3, 2023. Thank you as ever for all the love and warmth. Ellie x'. She later edited her post with the revised release date of 7th April.

Revealing what the new album is about, the 'Starry Eyed' singer said: "(‘Higher Than Heaven’ is) about being passionately in love. But it’s a hyper form of love, almost like a drug induced feeling. It feels almost artificial and there’s the potential for a crash."

Ellie also joined Jonathan Ross on his show to talk about her new music saying: "It’s good to be back. I think we can all relate to the lockdown dip. It’s good to be back with new music."

She added: "I released an album in lockdown and couldn’t tour and couldn’t do any shows so it feels good to perform and have new songs to sing to people."

What is Ellie Goulding's 'Let It Die' about?

As part of the announcement, Ellie also shared her song 'Let It Die' along with an official music video.

In an Instagram post promoting the song, she explained what it is about. Ellie said: 'Let it Die is about when a relationship plays out much longer than it needed to.

'Instead of giving love to yourself you spend it all on someone else and have nothing left, which is when it can become toxic and harmful. When there is intensity and urgency too quickly in love there is often a crash.'
