Fleur East caught up with megastar Dua Lipa on the Hits Radio Breakfast show to chat about her crazy last few months, THAT performance at the Grammy’s and her epic THREE BRIT Award nominations.

The ‘Levitating’ singer also revealed how she copes with her busy lifestyle and sometimes feeling overwhelmed by her constant triumphs in the music world.

In 2020, Spotify revealed that ‘Future Nostalgia’ was the most streamed album in a day by a British female artist globally on the platform, whilst her 2018 breakthrough single ‘New Rules’ has now surpassed an incredible 1.5 billion streams.

Dua confessed that she often finds herself not able to believe her own success.

She said, “It’s so exciting but sometimes it just doesn’t feel like me. I feel that I have those weird ‘pinch me’ moments so often. Every day I think I can’t believe I get to wake up every day and do something I love and be recognised in that way. It’s really cool.”

The popstar, who now has almost 70 million followers on Instagram, reaffirmed how lucky she feels to be able to do her job and that the thrill of performing.

She added, “I still get excited all the time. I always tell myself, whether it is excitement or nerves or adrenaline or whatever it is, I hope that never goes away. I want that feeling to last forever because it means you still really care about the stuff. So for as long as that’s around then I’m still doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing.”

Dua has achieved three nominations at this year’s BRIT Awards for Best Album for ‘Future Nostalgia’, Best British Single for ‘Physical’ and Best British Female. She will also be performing at the prestigious annual event in London.

She has previously won three BRIT Awards: British Single of The Year for 'One Kiss' in 2019 and British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist in 2018.

The 25-year-old revealed how she found out about her BRITs nominations.

She said, “I was in isolation! I was in my flat in London and had just come back from LA. I got a phone call and was absolutely buzzing, I couldn’t believe it. I was just so so happy. It was so nice to be home and get that welcome home surprise!

“I called my parents, they are always the first people I call. I screamed through the phone with excitement. They screamed, put the phone down, we chilled for a second and then did it all over again!”

Dua's BRIT nominations follow her sweep of six Grammy Award nominations and subsequent Grammy win for Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Future Nostalgia’ earlier in 2021.

She also performed at the ceremony in March 2021, which was held outdoor in Los Angeles, in order to keep the event as safe as possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Other stars performing at the event included Harry Styles and Billie Eilish.

Dua brought the Disco vibes to LA and performed a mash-up of her singles ‘Don’t Start Now’ and ‘Levitating’ at the ceremony, which involved some quick outfit changes.

Dua Lipa at the Grammy Awards

She said, “I was so happy we got to do it in person, but it was also very new. It was the first time an award show was happening properly in person. Everyone was two metres apart, but it was still to be two metres apart from Beyoncé! So I was like, I’ll take it!"

We can't wait to see Dua at this year's BRIT Awards. You can hear all of her biggest hits on Hits Radio!
