In the wake of the shocking news that JLS have are splitting up after six years together, we’ve taken a look back at the boys’ glittering career in numbers.

1: JLS’s debut single ‘Beat Again’ and album ‘JLS’ both charted at No.1 in 2009, kick-starting their career in style.

2: The number of BRIT Awards the boys have scooped. They won them for British Breakthrough Act and British Single (for ‘Beat Again’) at the 2010 ceremony.

2: JLS came second in the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008 behind Alexandra Burke. Just like One Direction three years later, despite not winning the boys went on to emulate the success of the winner.

4: There are four members of JLS - Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, J.B. Gill and Aston Merrygold.

5: JLS scored five chart topping singles throughout their career. ‘Beat Again’ and ‘Everybody In Love’ in 2009, ‘The Club Is Alive’ and ‘Love You More’ in 2010 and ‘She Makes Me Wanna’ ft. Dev in 2011.

5: Including their upcoming career-spanning album ‘Goodbye: The Greatest Hits’, JLS will have released five albums in the career. Their self-titled debut peaked at number No.1 in 2009 and it was followed by ‘Outta This World’ in 2010 (it charted at No.2), ‘Jukebox’ in 2011 (No.2) and ‘Evolution’ last year (No.3).

6: The number of years JLS were together as a band. Originally called UFO (an abbreviated for Unique Famous Outrageous), they changed their name to JLS (Jack the Lad Swing) when they auditioned for The X Factor.

12: The number of singles JLS have released to date. It’s expected that they’ll release a new single to promote their greatest hits album.

14: From 2000 to 2003, Marvin starred on BBC TV show Holby City. He appeared in a total of 14 episodes.

15: JLS have won a total of 15 awards throughout their career including five MOBOs, two BRIT Awards and five BT Digital Music Awards.

60: JLS were amongst the performers at Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace in 2012 celebrating 60 on the throne.

112: Despite their five number ones and five further Top 10 singles, December 2012’s double A-side ‘Hold Me Down’ / ‘Give Me Life’ proved to be a surprise flop only charting at number 112. Ouch.

30,000: The boys bid £30,000 to win a session with Lady Gaga producers Red One at Alicia Key's Black charity Ball in 2010. It proved a deft move when the resulting single ‘She Makes Me Wanna’ became a gargantuan hit.
