Last year popular dance DJ Avicii announced his retirement from touring in an open letter to his fans, explaining that while this tour would be his last, he will 'never let go of music'.

True to his word and nearly a year after his last performance he is now teasing new music.

Since finishing his last tour the DJ has been taking time out and travelling the world. At the moment he is in the Andes Mountains visiting Machu Picchu where he teased some new music on Instagram.

He posted, 'New music coming (very) soon!', along with a short clip of a track thought to be called 'Friend of Mine' with a backdrop of the infamous ancient ruins. He also included a number of hashtags thought to be other song names such as '#withoutyou #lonelytogether #youbelove #whatwouldichangeitto'.

The music included in this clip is reminiscent of Avicii's previous hits 'Hey Brother' and 'Wake Me Up', with guitar heavy riffs and a catchy dance beat.

Avicii decided to retire from touring after suffering from a number of health problems, including having his gall bladder and appendix removed in 2014 and then experiencing anxiety issues related to his live performances.

Despite his problems Avicii always said he would continue to make music and earlier this year fans were treated to some clips of him working in a studio. Just yesterday Avicii uploaded a video titled 'melodies', which almost perfectly loops.

Avicii enjoyed commercial success in the UK charts in 2011 with 'Levels' which sampled Etta James' vocals from 'Something's Got a Hold on Me', following that he also had chart success with 'I Could be The One' and 'Wake Me Up' and headlined hundreds of festivals around the world.

There is no word yet on when we can expect Avicii's new music, but we shouldn't have to wait too long!
