It's been a long time coming but former One Direction star Liam Payne has officially dropped his debut solo single 'Strip That Down'.

The track, which features Migos star Quavo and was co-wrote by Ed Sheeran, shows Liam's style of music in a whole different light to his days in One Direction.

Featuring the lyrics, 'You know I love it when the music stops, but come on strip that down for me', the track has a hip-hop vibe to it.

And of course fans love it...

After putting the release of his music on hold when he discovered he was expecting his first child with girlfriend Cheryl, the 23-year-old delighted fans earlier in the month when he finally confirmed a release date.

Taking to his social media accounts to tease fans, Liam uploaded a video of himself dancing topless along to a track in the background.

In the caption he wrote, 'Mad excited to announce my new single Strip That Down ft. @quavohuncho out May 19th #STRIPTHATDOWN ⬇'

The singer then revealed the single artwork for his new track, which shows Liam posing for a photo whilst touching his face with his heavily tattooed arm.

Just before the release, Liam teased fans once more when he uploaded another photo of himself alongside the words, 'Tomorrow... #STRIPTHATDOWN'

'Strip That Down' is Liam's first solo single since One Direction announced their hiatus at the end of 2015.

The singer shot to fame when he first auditioned for The X Factor in 2008 but was sadly eliminated by Simon at the judges' houses stage. Coming back stronger, Liam returned in 2010 and was later put into boyband One Direction alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan.

Despite finishing third on the show, One Direction went on to become one of the biggest selling boybands and scored a massive 14 top ten hits, including four number ones.
