Sam Ryder reveals unbelievable way he injured himself with his hair

Eurovision star Sam Ryder joined us at Hits Live Birmingham to put on an incredible performance, singing his hit song 'Space Man' as well as his new track 'All The Way Over'. We got chatting to him backstage, and in an interview with Steve Furnell, Sam revealed that his hair once caused him to dislocate his shoulder!

The singer is known for his distinctive style which includes his long blond hair, and he shared: "I’ve dislocated my shoulder washing my hair once. Too much volume!"

Explaining what happened, he said: "I was surfing and you know when you get out the sea, and there’s sometimes showers? Your hair gets really knotty after a surf and I was trying to wash it, like run my hands through it, it wasn’t very L'Oréal looking. My thumb got sort of stuck in a knot and my shoulder dislocated.

"I have got a history of dislocating shoulders, it wasn’t just that but it happening washing your hair and the arm getting stuck in your hair is horrific."

People who joined us the night before at Hits Live Manchester also got the chance to see Sam perform when he surprised the crowd by joining Sigala on stage! While at Hits Live Birmingham we were treated to performances from the likes of Blue, Nathan Dawe, Dermot Kennedy and Ella Henderson.

You can join us for Hits Live Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on 26th May 2023.

Hits Live Birmingham will take place at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on 24th November 2023.

Hits Live Manchester will be happening at the AO Arena in Manchester on 25th November 2023.

Sam also got chatting with us about how he prepares before a show, saying: "I always peel an orange, can’t go on stage without doing that, and then I’ll make some teas." He demonstrated some of the vocal exercises he does before adding: "Then put an Iron Maiden record on and sing along to it for a bit before going on stage."

When Steve asked which album he listens to, Sam joked: "'The Evil That Men Do', something chill like that."
