Way back in 2000 Big Brother started, with the first of its kind experiment where ordinary people were forced to live together in a specially constructed house, totally isolated from the outside world.

After 19 amazing series, and a number of celebrity editions of the show, bosses pulled the plug on Big Brother in 2018, leaving fans devastated, however it made an empathic return, with ITV rebooting the show! With the final taking place on Friday 17th November, here's your full recap of Big Brother 2023, hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.

Who won Big Brother?

26-year-old Lawyer Jordan Sangha was crowned the winner of the 2023 series of Big Brother, picking up 37.8% of the vote.

When was the Big Brother final?

The Big Brother final took place on Friday 17th November. The show aired live at 9pm on ITV2 and STV2.

Five housemates made it to the final, including Yinrun, Henry, Jordan, Olivia, and Noky.

Is Big Brother back on TV?

Yes! In 2022 it was confirmed that Big Brother would be making a comeback in 2023, with ITV confirming the news during the Love Island final on Monday 1st August 2022. During the final ad-break, an advert appeared featuring the infamous BB theme tune, before the classic eye logo appeared filled with ITV2 logos.

ITV say of the revived series: 'The Big Brother house has a brand new home, as the global television phenomenon makes its much anticipated return to UK television and moves onto ITV2 and ITVX from 2023.

'A new cast of carefully selected housemates, from all walks of life, will take up residence in the world’s most famous reality TV home for up to six weeks, with cameras capturing their every move, and the nation following every twist and turn.

'The action will all play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given its own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show. Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life changing cash prize.'

Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ItvBe & CITV said: “This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience. We’re beyond excited to bring this iconic series to ITV2 and ITVX where it should especially engage with our younger viewers.”

Natalka Znak, CEO of Initial, Remarkable Entertainment and Znak TV also added: “Big Brother is the original and best reality format and one that I have never made before so it’s a huge privilege to be making an all new version with ITV2 and ITVX."

Who was up for eviction on Big Brother?

First nominations: The results of the first nominations were unveiled on Thursday 12th October, with Kerry and Farida facing eviction.

Second nominations: The result of the second nominations - which saw the housemates vote for two people each - were unveiled on Wednesday 18th October and saw Zak and Henry up for eviction.

Third nominations: The third nominations were unveiled on Wednesday 25th October, with Hallie, Trish and Dylan up for eviction.

Halloween nominations: For a shock Halloween task, Big Brother randomly chose to give Noky all of the power, where she nominated Kerry, Dylan and Olivia.

Fifth nominations: Ahead of a double eviction, Dylan, Noky, Trish and Paul were nominated.

Sixth nominations: Ahead of another double eviction, Jenkin, Chanelle, Trish, Olivia and Noky were put up for eviction.

Seventh nominations: BB bosses announced housemates would be making face-to-face nominations during the final week, which resulted in Jordan, Tom and Jenkin immediately being evicted. However, the trio were sent to a secret task room, with the public being asked to vote to evict two of them.

Where is the Big Brother house?

After the last series in 2018, the Big Brother house located at Elstree Studios was demolished. For the 2023 reboot, a brand new house has been built at Garden Studios in West London.

A TV insider told Mail Online: "Garden Studios is the ideal location for filming the new Big Brother series. Not only is it London-based, but it's only been open for a year and promises the highest standard of production and also a commitment to sustainability."

Bosses gave a first glimpse of the brand new Big Brother house on Friday 6th October, with Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold showing fans around.

When did Big Brother start?

After previously announcing it will arrive in the Autumn, ITV/STV bosses later confirmed the series would begin on Sunday 8th October 2023.

Despite the show launching on the Sunday, the launch was NOT live, instead the housemates entered the house on Saturday 7th October.

The first official advert hit screens during the Love Island final on Monday 31st August, saying: '👁️ Big Brother sees it all 👁️The ultimate social experiment returns this autumn to ITV2 and ITVX #BBUK'. (sic)

On 7th September, bosses released the first official trailer, with the caption: 🗓️ Mark your calendars 🗓️ The ultimate social experiment returns this October to ITV2 and ITVX 👁️'.

When was Big Brother on TV?

The Big Brother main show aired 9-10pm Monday-Friday on ITV2/STV2.

Big Brother Late & Live aired 10-11pm Monday-Friday

The live stream aired between 11pm-2am on ITX/STV Player.

What channel is Big Brother on?

The 2023 series aired on ITV2 and ITVX, and STV2/STV Player for viewers in Scotland.

The 2023 eye logo is certainly a bright one, it was unveiled on Monday 31st July.

Applications for the 2024 series of Big Brother are now open!

The application stated: 'We’re looking for the nation’s most interesting, funny and entertaining characters from all walks of life. Think you’ve got what it takes to be a great housemate?

'If you want an amazing experience and a chance of winning an incredible amount of money, we’d love to hear from you.'

Applications for Big Brother 2024 close at midnight on Friday 19th June 2024.

Who are the Big Brother hosts?

It has now been confirmed that there will be two hosts for Big Brother, AJ Odudu and Will Best. AJ has recently co-hosted the revival of The Big Breakfast and is part of the Eurovision family, whilst Will has presented Dance, Dance, Dance for ITV.

Speaking of the role, AJ said: "I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting Big Brother! I couldn't be happier. Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour - and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake."

With Will adding: "I grew up with Big Brother so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can't wait to tell some housemates not to swear."

Why is Rylan not hosting Big Brother?

Before AJ and Will were announced as hosts, there were plenty of rumours as to who would take on the job, with many thinking it could be Rylan, however he clarified in a tweet that he had not been asked to host this series.

He tweeted: 'Should clarify. I’ve not been asked to host the show. As a fan, like always, I’m made up it’s coming back. I know how hard you/we all fought to keep that name alive and I’m so glad it paid off in the end. The OG reality is back. It’s the news we wanted. Welcome back bro x #bbuk.'.

Who is Big Brother voiceover?

As with all of the previous series of Big Brother, Marcus Bentley is lending his iconic voice to the show. Marcus confirmed the news in a tweet to his fans telling them: 'I can’t wait for the shenanigans to begin'.

Will there be more series of Big Brother?

ITV bosses have now confirmed the show has been commissioned for a second series on ITV2, with series two airing in 2024.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, ITV's Head of Reality TV, Paul Mortimer, said: "It will be a hit. It's looking fantastic. The house looks amazing. We've got a six week run coming up, that's our first foray into it, but it will be back next year of course.

"We have a 10pm show after the 9pm show - so two hours of Big Brother every evening then from 11pm you can go to ITVX to watch the live feed into the small hours."

It sounds like plans for a rebooted Celebrity edition of the show also haven't been ruled out, with Paul adding: "We have bought into Big Brother, a lot of us at ITV are BB fans.

"I can't imagine that we're in it just to do two, six week runs across 2023 and 2024. This is the start of it - so just watch this space."

Will there be a Celebrity Big Brother?

Yes, yes, yes! After a successful first series of Big Brother on ITV, bosses have now revealed Celebrity Big Brother will make a comeback in 2024!

Announcing the news during an eviction show on Friday 10th November, bosses wrote: 'The Big Brother House is ready to roll out the red carpet in 2024 ✨ #BBUK'.

Sharing a short clip of the iconic logo, the recognisable Big Brother voice-over can be heard saying: "Celebrities... Big Brother is coming to get you."

The new series will air in 2024.

Is Emma Willis hosting Big Brother?

Earlier this year, This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were quick to quiz former Big Brother host Emma Willis on the rumours, asking if she'd been told anything about the reboot at the time.

Emma, who hosted Big Brother between 2013-2018, said: "I genuinely know nothing. You guys probably know more."

On the night of the launch, Emma shared a photo of herself and new host AJ, writing: 'Tonight’s the night!! 👁️ @ajodudu and @iamwillbest are bringing in a brand new era of @bbuk . I’m SOOOOO excited to watch 💃 I’m not gonna wish you both luck as you don’t need it, you’re gonna absolutely smash it. Have the best time you pair, you’re about to experience one of the greatest rides in tele… 💃🎢💪'. (sic)

Who has won Big Brother?

Big Brother kick-started the careers of a number of the UK's biggest TV and radio stars. As well as Alison Hammond, the likes of Josie Gibson, Craig Phillips, Brian Dowling, Pete Bennett, Chanelle Hayes and Grace Adams-Short to name a few, all enjoyed fame from the show.

THEN: Craig Phillips

Scouser Craig was the first person to win Big Brother way back in 2000.

NOW: Craig Phillips

After giving his £70,000 prize money to charity, Craig went on to put his building skills to use and appeared a number of TV shows such as 60 minute makeover and Craig's Trade Tips.


In 2011 he hosted a show called Celebrity DIY with Craig Phillips for Home and he also became an ambassador for Ryobi, a hardware manufacturing company. Craig appeared on Channel 5 show Age Gap Millionaire alongside his wife in 2020, and he now does a number of appearances and media work.


Craig is now also a dad of two, being a proud parent to Lennon and Nelly alongside his wife Laura.

THEN: Brian Dowling

Irishman Brian was crowned the winner of Big Brother 2 in 2001, beating the likes of Helen Adams and Paul Clarke.

NOW: Brian Dowling

The show acted as a platform for Brian who has since went on to have an amazing career in TV. Not only did he return to the show in 2010 to win Ultimate Big Brother, Brian later hosted the show for two series, taking over from Davina McCall.


He has since gone on to become a well known TV personality, presenting shows like Sitting on a Fortune and The Real Housewives of Cheshire.

THEN: Kate Lawler

Kate was the first female to win the show when she won Big Brother 3 in 2002.

NOW: Kate Lawler

Kate went on to present a number of TV and Radio shows and even appeared on Celebrity Love Island in 2006. In 2021, Kate welcomed her daughter Noa with her fiancé Martin Bojtos, with the pair going on to get married in June 2022.


Kate started a podcast called Maybe Baby in 2019 and in 2023 she became part of the This Morning competition team.

THEN: Cameron Stout

Cameron won Big Brother in 2003 after receiving over 1.9 million votes. During his time in the Big Brother house Cameron was involved in a swap with the Big Brother Africa house. He swapped places with Big Brother Africa housemate Gaetano Kagwa.

NOW: Cameron Stout

After the show finished, former fish trader Cameron went on to star in a number of pantomimes, as well as landing himself a job with a newspaper.


He has since stayed out of the public eye.

THEN: Nadia Almada

Nadia stole the nation's hearts when she won the show in 2004, becoming the first transgender winner of Big Brother.

NOW: Nadia Almada

As well as the show's former presenter Davina McCall, many BB fans have called Nadia their 'favourite ever winner', despite her causing drama when she returned for Ultimate Big Brother in 2010.


After winning Big Brother, Nadia released a single, appeared on TV shows and even brought out her own fitness DVD.


She now works as a stylist and has expressed major interest in returning to the show which shot her to fame.

THEN: Anthony Hutton

Geordie boy Anthony was a VERY popular winner in 2005, receiving 57.2% of the vote.

NOW: Anthony Hutton

After the show, Anthony enjoyed a number of years of fame, appearing on TV shows and living the showbiz lifestyle.


The Newcastle-born star now lives a normal life as hairdresser and is a proud dad to his son Cruz, alongside his wife Sophie Crosby.


In 2022, Anthony appeared as a guest on Channel 4 show Steph's Packed Lunch.

THEN: Pete Bennett

Pete was the firm favourite throughout Big Brother in 2006 and eventually won with 61.2% of the final vote.

NOW: Pete Bennett

Pete enjoyed a romance with co-star Nikki Grahame in the BB house, but their romance faded out after just six months.


Pete appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show in 2010, where he revealed he was homeless. Since then, Pete has turned his life around and in 2016 set up a cleaning business called Celebriclean.


Pete has now turned his hand to acting and released his own sitcom Green Fingers on Amazon Prime after starring in a number of films.

THEN: Brian Belo

Essex boy Brian Belo was the winner of Big Brother 8 in 2007.

NOW: Brian Belo

Brian enjoyed major success after his stint on the show, landing himself a job on various TV shows. He also returned to the infamous house in 2015 as part of the Time Warp twist.


Brian now keeps himself out of the spotlight.

THEN: Rachel Rice

School teacher Rachel won the show in 2008.

NOW: Rachel Rice

After her successful stint on Big Brother, Rachel returned to teaching and is now a fully qualified teacher at a Comprehensive School in Wales.

THEN: Sophie Reade

Despite being made to change her name to 'DogFace' as part of a task, Sophie won the show in 2009, winning the prize fund of £71,320.

NOW: Sophie Reade

Since then, Sophie has continued with her modelling career, appearing in a number of different publications including Playboy. She also has an Only Fans account.

THEN: Josie Gibson

Josie won Big Brother in 2010 and later appeared on Ultimate Big Brother later in the year.

Despite splitting from fellow contestant John James Parton, Josie went on to have a mega successful career, landing herself fitness DVDs, TV presenting gigs and her very own TV show.


In 2019, Josie welcomed her first child, a baby boy called Reggie-James.


The star is now part of the This Morning family and often co-presents alongside Holly Willoughby.

THEN: Luke Anderson

Luke won the 13th series of Big Brother in 2012.

NOW: Luke Anderson

After winning the show, Luke quit showbiz and is now a head chef at a hotel.

THEN: Sam Evans

Welsh boy Sam won Big Brother 14 in 2013.

NOW: Sam Evans

After his victory, Sam, who was born with 70-80% hearing loss, announced that he intended to return to work in Debenhams.


Sam now stays out of the spotlight.

THEN: Helen Wood

Perhaps one of the most surprising victories in Big Brother history, but in 2014, Helen Wood was crowned the winner of Big Brother.

NOW: Helen Wood

With her loud personality, Helen has since appeared on a number of TV shows and most recently was involved in a debate on Good Morning Britain, back in 2020.


She has since left the public eye.

THEN: Chloe Wilburn

Chloe won Big Brother in 2015.

NOW: Chloe Wilburn

After winning the show, Chloe decided to return to normal life. She is now married and has a son.

THEN: Jason Burill

Despite threatening to leave the house on numerous occasions, Jason won the 17th series of Big Brother in 2016.

NOW: Jason Burill

Since then, Jason has focused his attention on property developing and described himself on Instagram as an 'Philanthropist/Actor/Businessman'.

THEN: Isabelle Warburton

Isabelle was crowned winner of Big Brother in 2017.

NOW: Isabelle Warburton

Isabelle now has over 79k followers on Instagram, making money from promotional deals on social media.


Isabelle also now owns her very own beauty salon and she's a mum to two children with her partner Mike Chung.

THEN: Cameron Cole

Cameron became the last ever Big Brother winner in 2018 and he was only 18 at the time.

Cameron now has over 25k Instagram followers and has launched his own podcast on Spotify, which is described as: 'explicitly humorous podcast covering news affairs, pop culture, personal revelations & outlooks.'

2023: Jordan Sangha

26-year-old lawyer Jordan Sangha was crowned the first ever winner of ITV/STV's rebooted series of Big Brother! Jordan won the show ahead of finalists Yinrun, Henry, Jordan, Olivia, and Noky, with an impressive 37.8% of the vote.

The hit show aired on Channel 4 between 2000-2010, before moving to Channel 5 between 2011-2018.
