Britain's Got Talent defend Greatest Showman singer awarded with Golden Buzzer

Britain's Got Talent have defended The Greatest Showman singer Loren Allred's appearance on the show, following her achieving a Golden Buzzer for her performance of the film's hit track 'Never Enough'. Following viewer backlash, bosses have defended her inclusion on the talent show.
Appearing on Saturday night's show (16th April), Loren introduced herself as the vocalist behind The Greatest Showman track 'Never Enough', which is sung by character Jenny Lind in the film. After Amanda hit the Golden Buzzer, viewers were quick to question why an established singer was taking part in the show.
A BGT spokesperson has now spoken out to defend Loren's inclusion, saying: "Whilst most people will have heard the infamous Greatest Showman track, Loren is not a household name, and she deserves her spot on the BGT stage.
"We hope that such articles will not count against somebody who is well-deserving of this opportunity. It's fantastic that Loren is now able to step out and stand in her own right to be the face, and not just the voice, of one of the most well-known tracks of all time."
As fans of the film will know, Loren does not actually feature in the film herself, as actress Rebecca Ferguson plays the role of musician Jenny Lind, who performs the ballad 'Never Enough'. Walking onto the BGT stage, Loren admits: "I think some of you guys have actually heard my voice, but you don't know my face."
The singer herself has also spoken out on the matter, defending her right to the opportunity, saying: "Even though I have spent a lot of years in the music industry, people don’t know who I am. Over all these years I’ve been fighting for my chance to be known and to make it.
"The opportunity to sing 'Never Enough' evolved from being a session singer in the choir, and even though the song was a big success, people still think that the actress sang it. I have never gotten the opportunity to tell my story. That’s never happened for me."
She also added: "I am an unsigned, independent artist still trying to make a name for myself."

It was quite the start to the new series of Britain's Got Talent, with another Golden Buzzer being awarded in the following night's episode (Sunday 17th April) as Simon Cowell hit the button for comedian Axel Blake.
It was also in Sunday night's episode that fans spotted a pretty hilarious editing error, that caused David Walliams to appear in two places at one time. As the comedian got up to join pensioner Joy Weir on stage, while she cut some serious shapes, viewers could still see him sat in his usual spot on the judging panel.
