Captain Sir Tom Moore was an unknown name at the beginning of the year, but after his inspirational fundraising campaign which saw him raise over £30 million for the NHS during the Coronavirus pandemic, the war veteran become the nation's sweetheart, even receiving a knighthood from the Queen back in July.

After completing 100 laps of his back garden before his 100th birthday, Captain Sir Tom Moore is releasing two books in September, and now he's the latest guest to appear on Piers Morgan's Life Stories.

Host Piers Morgan shared a number of clips on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday 9th September, where he spoke about the interview and how Captain Tom gets emotional whilst talking about his family.

Piers told his co-hosts, "It was an absolutely extraordinary two hours, whatever you think you know about this guy, however you think he interacts, he talks – just be prepared to be surprised."

In the clip with this daughters and grandchildren, a teary Captain Tom tells Piers, "I was very fortunate to move in with them.

"I always say tomorrow is a good day, and that was a good day the day I moved in with them

"I've got four grandchildren, and what more could you ask for than that."

Speaking to his Good Morning Britain co-hosts about the upcoming episode, Piers revealed his shock at how emotional Captain Tom got, adding, "He's a tough old Yorkshire man, he's not really prone to a lot of emotion, and that's why that moment in the interview was quite surprising."
