A contestant on The Chase has won a whopping £70,000 on Friday night's episode, the most a solo contestant has ever won.

The quiz show, which sees people go up against some of the brainiest quizzers in the country to win a cash prize, has a cult following thanks to host Bradley Walsh and the personas of the 'Chasers'.

After the other three contestants were no match for 'The Vixen', Jenny Ryan, Judith threw caution to the wind and went for the higher offer at the table.

The budding quizzer managed to reach 20 steps in the final chase and was able to push the chaser back a few times to secure her cash prize.

The final question for the red-headed Chaser asked what pet a 'ragamuffin' was, which she mistakenly thought was a dog.

Luckily, Judith knew the correct answer - a cat - and as the timer struck zero a thunderous applause came from the audience.

Presenter Bradley congratulated Judith on the 'extraordinary' performance, Jenny said, "Wow, what a high-class quizzer."

"I have never done this before but I have to give you a standing ovation. That was incredible."

She also took to Twitter to show her appreciation to the contestant.
