It’s good news for Dancing On Ice fans! After months of rumours that the show is set to return, ITV have finally confirmed its comeback for early 2018.

The news was announced on today’s episode of This Morning and followed up with a tweet on the official Dancing On Ice Twitter page. The tweet read, ‘Get your skates on, winter is coming. We'll be back in your lives for 2018! But who will take to the ice? Watch this space! #dancingonice’.

Fans of the popular skating show were over the moon at the announcement and took to Twitter to express their excitement.

It has also been confirmed that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return to host the show, with ice-skating legends Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean also returning to the show.

However to celebrate its big return, the show is making a number of big changes for the 2018 series!

Torvill and Dean will be head judges, instead of their previous mentor roles.

When asked by Holly Willoughby what type of judges the pair are going to be, Christopher said, “Well I think we are the most qualified virgin judges there are. But having said that, honest judges, good honest judges. We want to critique as opposed to criticise.”

Despite not revealing who the other judges will be, Holly revealed Torvill and Dean are the ‘skating’ judges, with the others set to come from a performance background.

It was also revealed that the show has a brand new purpose built set with two rinks, a training rink and a performance rink.

Roll on 2018!

Dancing On Ice first hit TV screens back in 2006, with Holly and Phillip presenting the show together until 2011. Christine Lampard later took over from Holly between 2012-2014.

The last series then ended in March 2014, leaving viewers devastated.

Since Dancing On Ice started over ten years ago, the show has had many winners including the likes of Ray Quinn, Matthew Wolfenden, Suzanne Shaw and Beth Tweddle.

It hasn't yet been confirmed which celebrities will appear on the new series, but Dancing On Ice is set to return in early 2018.
