Emily in Paris star shares wild reaction to recognition from BTS

Emily in Paris actress Ashley Park stars alongside Lily Collins and plays the eccentric character of Mindy Chen on the show. We know Mindy as a struggling singer trying to make it in Paris, and the actress has now received some musical recognition in the real world.

We get to see more performances from Mindy in season two, including her cover of 'Dynamite' by boy band BTS in the first episode. Wearing an incredible half-and-half outfit complete with rhinestones and feathers on one side and a moustache and top hat on the other, she takes to the stage in the drag cabaret club where she works.

Ashley was thrilled when BTS members RM and V shared clips of her performance on Instagram. While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! she revealed the strange reaction she had when she found out: “The whole rest of the day after they had posted that I couldn’t think, I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t get up. I was like, ‘Is this what is feels like when your body goes into shock?’"

The actress also explained that she had felt discomfort in her head and sinuses but assumed it was just part of her reaction to getting recognition from the boy band.

However, when the symptoms didn't pass she realised there was another reason she was feeling off: "I woke up the next day and I had to take a COVID test for something…I had Omicron. Which is why I was in such a fog.”

While laughing about the whole situation she added: "I didn’t think it was COVID because I really just thought this was me going into shock." She also revealed how important singing this song and doing it justice was to her: “I just want to make them as proud as they have made me as a Korean artist.”

Fans of the show were thrilled when season two dropped on Netflix on 22nd December, and to make things even better Netflix have confirmed they'll be making two more seasons!
