Michael Owen breaks silence on daughter Gemma's Love Island appearance
She's causing a stir!
It's only been back on our screens two days, but already Michael Owen's daughter Gemma Owen is causing a stir on Love Island, with many viewers shocked to learn the beauty is only 19-years-old.
Ahead of Gemma coupling up with Italian Stallion Davide on Tuesday night's show, her dad Michael made his first TV appearance since she entered the villa, and his co-presenters were quick to make jokes.
Michael appeared on Channel 4's coverage of England's Nations League game against Germany, when presenter Jules Breach said: "Joining me hoping to see another famous win for England tonight in Munich, England and Arsenal midfield Jordan Nobbs, former England, West Ham and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole and the father of Love Island’s Gemma Owen."
Jules then asked: "A big night for the Owen's last night Michael, how are you feeling?"
An awkward Michael responded saying: "I came all the way to Germany to try and avoid all that back home, but it has been brought up straight away!
"But I am feeling alright. This is taking my mind off it so don’t bring it back up."
After weeks of rumours that she was going to take part in the 2022 series of Love Island, Gemma entered the brand new villa during the launch show with host Laura Whitmore on Monday 6th June.
Although the public matched her with 22-year-old Liam from Newport, Gemma's head was quickly turned by the late arrival of 27-year-old Italian Davide, with the pair enjoying a kiss during the first trial.
Despite many viewers calling for bosses to raise the age limit for applicants, with many calling Gemma 'too young', the International Dressage Rider was chosen by Davide during his tense decision on Tuesday night's show, leaving Liam single and vulnerable.
