Although it seems like just yesterday we were sat in front of our TV screens watching Holby City actor Joe McFadden be crowned the 2017 winner of Strictly Come Dancing, the 2018 series isn't that far away!

Although it's only March, we have the Royal Wedding, Love Island and many more TV shows to get us through the summer before the return of the popular dancing show later in the year, and if rumours are true, it's set to be a great series once more.

According to new reports today, Strictly bosses are lining up a 'record amount' to get former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan on the show.

According to the Daily Star, a show insider said, “Everyone knows that having Michelle Keegan out on the Strictly dance floor would be ratings gold."

They then added, “Everyone behind the scenes thinks she would set the dance floor alight. It’s now a matter of convincing her to sign up."

The source continued to reveal that bosses of the show will do what it takes to get Michelle on the show, with money being no concern. They added, "That’s a demographic that they are desperate to attract to the show and something they are willing to break the bank for."

Since the show first began in 2004, Strictly Come Dancing has landed a number of high profile celebrities on the show. The likes of Peter Andre, Kimberley Walsh, Harry Judd, Emma Bunton and Sophie Ellis-Bextor have all appeared over the last 13 years.

And of course Michelle's husband, former TOWIE star Mark Wright, appeared on the show in 2014 with professional dancer Karen Hauer.

If Michelle does appear on the 2018 series, she will hoping to do better than her hubby. Mark was eliminated one week before the final in 2014, with Love Island host Caroline Flack going on to win the series.

Meanwhile, despite rumours that she could be joining the 2018 Strictly line-up, 30-year-old Michelle is incredibly busy at the moment.

As well as flying back and forth to Los Angeles to visit Mark, who is working as TV presenter in the States, Michelle is busy filming for the latest series of hit drama Our Girl.

Fans of the show were left devastated last year during the series finale, where Michelle's on-screen love interest Elvis (Luke Pasqualino) was killed when Section 2 found themselves under attack from the enemy during their final mission in Kabul.

After Michelle's character Georgie Lane had just accepted Elvis' proposal, fans were left on edge wondering what will be next for her.

Our Girl is expected to return in the coming months, with Strictly Come Dancing set to return later in the year.
