Nick Tilsley will leave Coronation Street this summer

Coronation Street has confirmed that actor Ben Price will be leaving the soap after seven years of playing Nick Tilsley.

In a statement Ben said, "Coronation Street has been the most significant part of my career and I have had a fantastic seven years here."

The 45-year-old actor who is a father of two, currently commutes from London where his family live, to Manchester to work on the cobbles and said, "The decision to leave is purely personal – I want to be able to spend more time with my family."

Corrie bosses have supported Ben saying, "We fully respect Ben's decision to leave Coronation Street."

Later hinting at a dramatic exit from the soap with Coronation Street's Executive Producer Kieran Roberts saying, "we still have many months of great storylines with him leading to his dramatic exit later this year."

Although he wouldn't reveal whether or not the character would be killed off.

As a character Nick Tilsley has been in the soap since he was born being portrayed by Warren Jackson and Adam Rickett before Ben started in 2009.
