The Queen is a massive fan of Line Of Duty

She binged the show during her 'toughest months'

It's one of the biggest and most popular shows on TV, with record breaking figures for the series six finale at the start of May, so it's no surprise Line of Duty has some pretty A-list fans.

Many of us binge watched series one-five during lockdown at the start of the year and it turns out even The Queen couldn't resist watching AC-12 officers Hastings, Arnott and Fleming sniff out the bent coppers.

According to a new report from the Sunday Times, Her Majesty binged Jed Mercurio's drama whilst she self-isolated at Windsor Castle, even discussing the show's tantalising and gripping storylines with her closest aid, Vice-Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt.

Of course, just like many viewers across the world, the show was a great distraction from a tough couple of months for the Queen, following the death of her husband, The Duke of Edinburgh, and the drama surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

As expected, show creator Jed Mercurio is over the moon to receive praise from Her Majesty, replying to the news with the words: 'We are honoured'.

Check out Ted Hasting's best quotes from Line of Duty:

“There’s only one thing I’m interested in and that is catching bent coppers”

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey"

“Frankly son, right now, I couldn’t give a s---”

“You’ve got a bloody nerve”

“Now we’re sucking diesel”

“For years, the security in this department has been watertight… then you come along, suddenly we’re leaking like a colander”

“Now we’re cooking with gas!”

“She’s cooked her goose now”

“Houl yer whisht”

“Mother of God”

“I didn’t float up the Lagan in a bubble”

“None of my people would plant evidence. They know I would throw the book at them – followed by the bookshelf”

“No more beating around the bush, we raid Operation Lighthouse”

“We've been round the houses Steve. Round the houses and down the bloody drains"

“Gotcha a big pint of that cats’ p--- that you young fellas seem to like so much”

“Go back to the coal face, the pair of you, unless you’ve got more egg-sucking tips for your Granny”

“Don't talk to me about victimisation, nobody's blacker than me, son"

“You were going like the clappers”

“God give me strength”

“That’s us now”

“I think you should sit down, fella. Or I’ll handcuff you to that desk”

“You look like a couple of kids who’ve been caught robbing an orchard”

Despite fans across the UK holding out for news about a seventh series, both Jed and the BBC are yet to reveal any news just yet.

Scottish actor Martin Compston, who plays the role of DI Steve Arnott on the show, seemingly hinted the show could come to an end after series six.

Speaking on the Shrine of Duty podcast, Martin said: "You know, people have stuck with us for such a long time," before continuing: "I think there comes a point where the natural story arc that's been running all these years is coming to an end."

We hope not! 😭
