The new season of Stranger Things is nearly upon us and with it all the hype that you'd expect. Today (12th April), fans have been waiting for the show's latest trailer to be streamed, it hasn't left them disappointed.

Stranger Things season 4

Following a tense live stream counting down to the release of the season four trailer, the full trailer was revealed on YouTube. Set six months after the Battle of Starcourt, where Max's brother Billy was a victim, the trailer shows Max sitting at his graveside, reading to him. "Dear Billy, I don't know if you can even hear this," she says.

"Ever since you left everything's been a total disaster. For a while we tried to be happy, normal, I know that's impossible..."

The trailer goes on to reveal more of what's in store for the fans including the troubles the residents of Hawkins have to endure.

Season four volume 1 will be released on 27th May on Netflix, followed by volume 2 on 1st July.

Stranger Things tease Creel House

Back in September 2021 we got a better look at what's to come, in the form of Creel House - an eery yet elegant home that seemingly had some very suspect events take place inside.

The trailer appears to show a family move into the home many years ago, and when things begin to get a bit, well, strange, we clip forwards to Steve, Dustin, Lucas and the rest of the gang exploring the now derelict home.

The trailer comes shortly after show star Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, offered us a glimpse of hope, revealing that filming has in fact WRAPPED, and show bosses were gearing up to reveal more teasers.

Discussing filming in a clip shared to a Stranger Things updates Twitter account, Stranger Things Spoilers, earlier this week, Noah said: "We just finished, like last week. So, yeah, we're done!"

He then continues: "We've been filming forever, and they're finally done.

"They're putting together another teaser, and then... Yeah."

So there we have it... Close to what co-star Davis Harbour predicted, filming officially wrapped in September, and despite having to wait until 2022 to see the full series, we can can sit and ponder just what on EARTH Creel House has to offer.

Back in May 2021, show bosses FINALLY dropped the first official teaser trailer for season four, and just a few months later, in August - two years after the release of season three - the streaming platform gave us a further a glimpse of what the next series has in store for us, as well as confirming that the show will land in 2022.

Unlike the first teaser trailer, the new 30-second clip showed us actual footage from the upcoming series... Albeit, only 10-seconds worth. Amping up the excitement, we saw familiar characters such as Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, and the gang, along with the beloved Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour.

After a disappointing update earlier last year suggesting that the new series wouldn't be landing in 2021, and David Harbour's hint about when series four will wrap, the news doesn't come as a huge shock to fans. It's safe to say, however, they we are all keen to watch the highly anticipated upcoming series.

The 70-second trailer released on 6th May shows an eerie hospital, with young children playing with various toys and games such as cars and chess. Showing a familiar figure from early seasons, who Eleven referred to as Papa, we can hear the words: "Good morning children, how are you today?". He then continues: "Today, I have something very special planned for you."

Also sharing the trailer to their Instagram page, show bosses captioned the clip: 'Eleven, are you listening?' (sic).

The show's official YouTube channel hinted that the first teaser trailer was on its way with a cryptic video on 5th May, which was almost two minutes long.

In the clip, titled 'HNL Control Room', seven analogue TV screens can be seen arranged in a circle, and, in true Stranger Things style, they are displaying static noise and flickering on and off. Along with the eerie video, show bosses supplied us with a cryptic message in the description box.

Elaborating the description box, the account wrote: 'Due to technical difficulties, Hawkins National Laboratory will be closed until further notice. We will be back in service tomorrow at 9:00AM ET.'

As many of us suspected, a full trailer then landed on the YouTube channel by 2pm UK time on 6th May.

Here are some facts about the series that you probably didn't know...

1)

To help sell the show, the Duffers edited a mock 'trailer' combining clips from over 25 feature films, including E.T., Nightmare on Elm Street, Super 8 and Halloween.

2)

The composers of the Stranger Things soundtrack (Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon) were two members of an Austin synth band called SURVIVE; their music was featured in the soundtrack of the film The Guest.

3)

Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon have written over 13 hours of music for the show.

4)

Winona Ryder wanted her hairstyle modeled after Meryl Streep's hair in Silkwood.

5)

The title sequence was inspired by the work of Richard Greenberg, who designed a number of classic 80s title sequences including Alien, Altered States, Superman and The Goonies - which starred a young Sean Astin, who later appeared in Stranger Things as Joyce's boyfriend Bob Newby.

6)

Winona Ryder and Matthew Modine (Dr. Martin Brenner) have appeared together once before, in the music video for Roy Orbison's 'A Love So Beautiful'.

7)

Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) have both acted on Broadway. Gaten played Gavroche in Les Miserables and Caleb played Young Simba in The Lion King. The two boys knew each other but they didn't become close friends until after working on Stranger Things.

8)

Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) and Millie Brown (Eleven) are both from the UK. Charlie is from Bridlington, East Yorkshire, and Millie is from Bournemouth, Dorset.

9)

To help sell the show, the Duffers created a 'look book' which was designed in the style of a vintage Stephen King novel.

10)

Gaten's voice changed so much by the time production ended that the sound team were unable to use him for additional dialogue recording.

11)

Although the show was shot digitally on the RED Dragon, a layer of real film grain was applied to help achieve a more vintage look.

12)

It was Caleb's request to wear a camouflage bandana in the show; he wears it for the final three episodes.

13)

The monster was achieved through a combination of prosthetics, animatronics, performance and CG.

14)

The toddlers on set were very scared by the 'monster', but they were calmed when told that he was just like the monsters in Monsters Inc.

15)

Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, is a film buff and wants to be a director when he grows up. He is a particular fan of Sam Raimi's early work.

16)

The gang really did create a salt bath, and Millie Bobby Brown actually floated - there were no effects used! To get Millie to float in a kiddie pool, twelve hundred pounds of epsom salt were dissolved into the water.

17)

Before starting the show, the writers all watched (or rewatched) a large list of films, including E.T., Stand By Me, The Goonies, The Thing and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

18)

Millie had to shave most of her hair off for the show and as can be expected of any 11-year-old girl this was a terrifying prospect. The Duffers showed her how cool Charlize Theron looked in Mad Max: Fury Road after which Millie agreed to it.

19)

The Duffers had all the boys audition with scenes from Stand By Me.

20)

Hopper's trailer was purchased by the art department for $1.

21)

For some of the laboratory scenes, Millie (Eleven) was fully submerged in an underwater immersion tank. She was able to breathe by wearing a Sea Trek helmet, which weighs approximately 70 lbs above water; it weighs 15 lbs beneath the surface of the water. The helmet was designed for shallow 'underwater walking'.

22)

To direct Millie while she was underwater, the Duffers communicated with her through a small radio in her ear.
